Saudi Arabia announces maritime defence alliance to secure vital waterways

Well this maritime coalition better get a move on, enough pontificating.

In August of this year and that from the first few days moreover. Most of the oil is getting through by unofficial channels. It has never stopped. Even the official ones have never stopped. Vast majority of the Saudi Arabian oil is going to Asian consumers - among them China that the Houthi terrorist cult does not want to mess with them. Let alone the rest.

The Houthi terrorist cult does not control the Bab al Mandab - KSA and the Yemeni government does - including the Perim Island in the middle of the strait.

The only port that the Houthi terrorist cult controls is Hodeidah and that only due to international pressure when KSA/Yemeni government was about to conquer it. Most of the ships that enter this port are overseen by the KSA navy in places like Djibouti before they enter Hodeidah.

ARAMCO has had a record profit since the US onslaught on Iran.

The Houthi terrorist cult's disruption of international shipping (Bab al Mandab and the Re Sea being one of the busiest water and trade routes in the world) is not going to last that long.

At the end of the day higher costs of circumvention will be offset by higher oil prices and other commodities. That is usually how the economic market works. And eventually everyone will be impacted.

We will obviously see the short-term and long-term (if ever relevant) outcome eventually. No need to draw any conclusions right now. In any case most of the work will be done by KSA as has been the case for 10 + years already.
