Saudi Aramco helicopter crash in Ras Tanura kills all 14 on board

إنا لله وإنا اليه راجعون

No, just a regular accident, which can occur with helicopters although rare. I don't recall a similar accident.

It occurred at 6 am so it was bright already.

Local authorities confirmed that the accident was not directly linked to the ongoing conflict with Iran.<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_Saudi_Aramco_AW139_crash#cite_note-10"><span><span>[</span>10<span>]</span></span></a>

All the killed were local Saudi Arabian Aramco employees (chemical, petroleum and other engineers).

It is an coastal area with a very beautiful beach:

KSA received condolences from numerous Muslim and Arab nations and the victims/martyrs received a funeral on Monday.

Many high-ranking emirs (governors) and officials participated.

Interestingly a lot of the victims belonged to our Shia Twelver community in the Eastern Province. Many of them are employed by Aramco.

@shapurzolaktaf only a psychopath and mentally ill person would rejoice at the deaths of innocent/ordinary civilians, let alone a Muslim.

RIP to the departed.

Any reports on whether it Crashed on land or water. If crash wasn't violent, could such floating device which Indian Navy helo carry, have saved their lives.

No idea. The full causes are yet to be published. All we know (what has been confirmed officially) is that it was not due to regional tensions.

Another theory that I have seen online on Arabic X (which is a cesspool largely much like social media as a whole nowadays) is that it was shot down by Saudi Arabian air force by mistake but I don't believe that given that we have one of the world's most extensive, tested and best performing air defenses and that throughout the conflict in the region for 2-3 months, we had ZERO similar incidents when actually dealing with drones and missiles.

Personally I believe that weather is the cause because the coastal waters of this part of KSA, during the summer, are very warm and weather conditions (if windy/stormy - google shamal wind) can often cause sudden sporadic storms.

Another not rare weather phenomenon in the region (which I have seen myself in Ras Tanura/Dammam/Khobar area no less - the area of this accident) are waterspouts. They can easily crash a helicopter especially this one in question which was/is not a military helicopter.

But I am just speculating. Until and unless the full details will be disclosed, I am just speculating but I am speculating based on weather patterns in the region during this part of the year and what could be likely if weather had a role to play here.
