Save Karachi

Never been to Karachi but what is the main issue people complain about. I know about the security situation and political instability but everything else seems like a typical desi city issues. People should not compare Karachi to Shangai, HongKong or New York but compare it to Mumbai, Chennai, Chattogram or Alexandria.

I still can't get over what PPP have done with Karachi. They have absolutely destroyed it. :ROFLMAO:

They should build a new city by the coast and start from scratch with DHA builders.

The issue is that if not for the feudal babus running Sindh, Karachi could actually punch well, well above its weight...if only it got its fair share of the revenue it generates for the country to pour back into its development and generate more said national revenue.

Anyways, my view is that all of the provinces should be gutted and erased entirely, an unnecessary middle-layer of government full of leeches sucking our scarce resources.

Disaggregate governance into dozens of smaller districts, with Karachi, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Mirpur, Hyderabad, etc., etc., as their own entities with local governments, further empowered by a significant return of their taxes (50-70%+, depending on development needs).
 
Habib Bank founded in Bombay, MCB in Calcutta, UBL in Karachi founded by mohajirs, and moved these to Pakistan in love for a country that was never theirs.
Mohajirs set up Shipping industries, colleges, universities, welfare orgs.
They ran a bankrupt Pakistan after partition.
When they stood up Pakistan, son of soil Pakistanis told them to return to India otherwise they will confiscate all what they have setup in Karachi and Pakistan. Confiscation what they did to Karachi.
Hakeem Saeed, founder of Hamdard Trust killed, AQ Khan died miserably (though a mohajirs Gen Mush was responsible).
Edhi to Dr. Adeebul Hasan Rizwi.
People of Karachi gave and gave.
Only solution, Karachi be made a province and that province should have powerful citiy councils to run cities.
Same should be applied to rest of limping Pakistan if army wants to save it.

Well planned DHA build with good infrastructure, clean beaches. Maybe even a resort with a private beach. A theme park seaside. Beach villas. Clean and developed.

The majority of the building look like massive flat/apartments, should have kept the heights at 5 maximum apartments, with small parks in front of them all. I visited Egypt and in Cairo they too had huge apartments up to 30 + stories, the issue i saw was 10,000s live in them and when they come down its absolutely chaos, make all mess and go back in the buildings, the building also look draconic. In the newer cities Egypt has created maximum 5 apartment buildings, with small parks all over, small shopping places. Its spread out, very peaceful.

They are already building close community DHA apartments. Looks very good but nothing can be done for Karachi. The cost is too high to fix everything.

But the issue is, why would feudal babus want to do that? They can't even be bothered to treat their own nativist cities well, forget setting up something new. Don't expect vision from them.

Pick either the Mubarak Village or Keti Bandar, to the west and east of Karachi on the coastline, respectively. Build the greatest city there like Karachi was built by the immigrants from the British India but then what? Others would follow an even more destroyed Karachi and move to those new virbant cities. The immigrants who came from the pre-partition British India were light years ahead in enterpreneurship and education compared with where they moved to in modern Pakistan. And only a few pockets of urban Punjab have caught up with their liberalism and ingenuity. The rest of Pakistan... remains too feudal.
