Sea Sultan Long-Range MPA | Updates & Discussion

over last decade or so, there have been fewer projects tht I have followed so keenly than this one.
I just wish the end product turns out to be a massive one. Along with Hangors, these will be massive for Pak navy and I just cant wait to see them flying.

There are projects that have much less "size' but a lot more footprint which may be more important in the long run.

I agree to that. I am sure I am not even privy to most of their names or existence even.
However, navy was the weakest link for a while and it is just now that we are reaching a respectable level.

My fascination with Sea sultan is the possibility for the future expansion/up-gradationfor PN and the benefit we can reap for the counter insurgency / anti militancy operations over land. There was a reason mehran base was attacked.

Mehran was attacked because it was exposed and provided as a target by the Indians to the militants. It was an easy win to reduce PN force strength.

You are correct that we had porous security and were caught off guard. However, P3C were used in counter insurgency over KPK mainly as well as in Balochistan. Hence, the target was not only pak armed forces infrastructure but also to assets that were used against the talibans.

It was probably the most costly security lapse we had since this WOT begins.

Every enforcement is poor in Pakistan - and tend to get lax until enforced.
If anything most of these gate guards are better at stopping house servants or the captain's son out with his friends at night.
Part of the issue also has to with having housing right within the base for which servicing is always needed along with guests coming and going.

Which is why the military are resorting to full enclosed colonies but that is still impossible in a culture where servants, guests and general employees are needed.
