A very famous Indian artist, MF Husain (no surprises there), was pilloried and threatened by the tech support community for painting nude goddesses. I can't count the number of loyal to Bharat bollywood actors/producers who have received threats for portraying hindu deities. Of note, none of the depictions in question have been derogatory or insulting or contrary to hindu scriptural sensitivities.
