Sudan Civil war 2023 - present

The UAE and Israel are encouraging the countries of the Nile Basin to threaten the water security of future generations in both Egypt and Sudan.. Here, the Minister of Energy in South Sudan says that they are ready to build the Fula Dam and that they have no concerns about Egypt.

An inexplicable decision by the US.

"This is not quite the full story either, but we are getting there. First, it is virtually unprecedented that the US would hold a visa and a country hostage in exchange for signing any agreement. It demonstrates a number of shocking developments:

1. The US willingness to flout diplomatic protocol and precedent

2. The clear de facto decision to decide that it does not recognize the Sudan's sovereignty council or its head as at least temporarily occupying the UN seat for the country. That is a change in policy to make that choice explicit and sets it on a different path from the UN or most other nations, including African nations.

3. The US is clearly not interested in actual peace in Sudan, just the allusion of it. Its all about the headlines, nothing about the substance. How durable is any ceasefire agreement going to be if it is arrived at under duress?

4. Perhaps most importantly, Quad countries and Quad adjacent countries allied with the SAF have spent the last several days furiously lobbying US officials to reverse this ban on Burhan's visa. I am told that it is causing a potential irreparable rupture within the Quad and could prompt one or more Quad countries to withdraw from the informal alliance. While the Quad has produced virtually nothing in the last year, this would demonstrate just how far out of step the US is and how much further away Sudan is from peace as a result of the US' irresponsible gambit."

Basically, the US wants to stop the momentum of the Sudanese Armed Forces that is driving the death squad RSF militia from many regions.

This denial of visa proves whose agenda that the UAE is implementing in Sudan. In other words, the US and "Israel" are backing UAE in its malicious and destructive campaign against the Republic of Sudan.

Yes, I came to the same conclusion. Israel and UAE are implementing the US agenda in East Africa. That is why they have escaped accountability.

The legitimacy of the Sudanese Armed Forces derives from the constitution. There can be no equivalence between a national army defending its people and a militia backed by the UAE.

No one can impose trusteeship over Sudan not Massad Boulos, nor the UAE. Sudan’s decisions belong to the Sudanese people, and sovereignty cannot be handed over to foreign powers.

According to a diplomatic source who spoke to The Africa Report, discussions grew heated at a ministerial meeting on Sudan hosted on Monday afternoon by France, which holds the UN Security Council presidency this month, after Saudi Arabia threatened to withdraw from the Quad.

According to the report, Riyadh was already frustrated with Trump for refusing to intervene militarily in Yemen, where Saudi forces are struggling against the Iran-backed Houthis. The perception that Boulos is biased in favor of the UAE is also fueling considerable anger in Riyadh.

What I admire about the Lion of Sudan and Africa, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan—God willing—is that he refused to allow Sudan's participation in the United Nations General Assembly to be contingent on agreeing to a 90-day humanitarian truce.

Al-Burhan—according to media sources—rejected turning the visa into a political price for approving a truce that he believes its timing and conditions could give the Janjaweed militia a chance to catch its breath and reorganize its ranks after the pressures and defeats it has suffered in several combat fronts.

The issue here is not rejecting humanitarian aid or the suffering of the Sudanese people; rather, the real question is what will happen on the ground during the truce period, who will benefit from it, and whether it will truly be exploited to deliver aid to civilians or if it will grant the militia an opportunity to reorganize its forces, compensate for its losses, and bring in military equipment and foreign mercenaries?

And here lies the importance of al-Burhan's stance in refusing to turn the humanitarian file into a bargaining chip for political or military pressure on the Sudanese state.

The two possible outcomes from a 90 day ceasefire (which the UAE has lobbied for)

1. Ceasefire ends and a re-armed and invigorated RSF gets a second chance at terrorising areas that have previously been liberated by the Sudanese Army.

2. The ceasefire is renewed permanently and we end up with a Libya style situation. Where western Sudan ends up permanently under the thumb of the UAE and their genocidal proxy.

Mr Boulos continues to mistakingly assume that the Sudanese people are stupid
