In a detailed ruling on the case concerning reserved seats, the 13-member full bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan declared that the Election Commission, as a constitutional body, failed to conduct free and fair elections on February 8, 2024. The court criticized the Chief Election Commissioner and his fellow members for their inability to fulfill their constitutional duty, leading to a breakdown in the democratic process.

The Supreme Court's decision further emphasized that the Chief Election Commissioner and his colleagues should immediately resign from their positions. The country’s highest court has now officially stamped its approval on the Election Commission's incompetence, marking a severe indictment of their failure to uphold the principles of transparency and fairness

Try them under article 6

A majority of the Supreme Court judges have stated that the decision made by the Chief Justice to strip PTI of its electoral symbol was the primary reason behind the Election Commission's criminal negligence. This ruling has sparked outrage, as it highlights how a key decision led to a serious breach of electoral fairness. The judges emphasized that this action undermined the democratic process, further reinforcing the Election Commission's failure in its constitutional duty to ensure free and transparent elections.

Try them under article 6
The Supreme Court has given two full tosses to PTI:

  1. A misconduct reference will be filed against the two judges whose conduct has been challenged.
  2. A constitutional violation reference will be filed against the Election Commission for failing to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities.

What now though? I assume the SC has now power to make anyone resign and the government isn't obliged to act?

Election commission is incompetent and failed to do its job of conducting a fair election? Whaaa???

In other news sky is blue and water is wet.

Everyone knows what a sham election this has been overall(not just the reserve seats stuff…that’s just but one part of it).
