Syria is done; the Russians do not have much fight in them due to the drain from Ukraine. We could see Syria enter into a prolonged civil war. Iran wouldn't send any forces besides militias with AKs.

The Russians themselves acted very late in the game when Assad was on his knees. Had they acted at the start of the conflict and pacified and secured the borders, they wouldn't have to deal with what they see in front of them today. Timing is everything.
