Syrian Civil War and The future of Syria after liberation

His "job" was never to fire a single bullet at the entity as he was in no position to go to war with it.

Allowing supply to Hezbollah was more than any other Arab state was doing.

I have no idea why people do not think at any more than a surface level when it comes to what Assad could realistically do.

The timing was terrible, but this is what happens when you have weaknesses

Let's be clear Assad was a butcher, listen to the testimonies of the people being released from jails, rape, slaughter, mass torture of Syrians especially sunni Syrians

That's reality,

Hundreds of thousands died, he was no different then the Jews

If you understand HISTORY you understand WHY the alewite minority had a dictatorship that controlled Syria a nation of majority sunni Muslim Arabs and how it led to division and the point we are today

Israel was NOT going to collapse today, the current conflict was always another step in it's destruction

Don't underestimate what has happened, those who think Israel is stronger today don't understand what's happened in the region, this is the price of freedom and independence

And only the removal of the USA, Russia, Israel will get the middle east true freedom

This new leader does seem to be 1-dimensional in his thought, not sure that is enough to build a stable new Syria with the political complexities of Syria and the region it occupies. He does need to understand he will need help in the future, and Russia can be helpful.

Russia can be Helpful or Russia can be unhelpful, depending on the context. Regardless they are moving to reestablish ties with both Russia and Iran, as the tweet says.

What are the chances Syria's new government joining the Axis of Resistance? or rather is it a puppet installation of the West?

An "ex Al Qaeda" terrorist won't have any of the personality or skills to lead a nation.

Anyway I don't think he will be "allowing" Russia to keep its bases in Syria as he knows it will be suicide for him and his new regime to attack them. He probably knows that Russia won't just agree to pack up and leave and so they agree to make it work between them.

Assad confronts own downfall

Dawn

After exhausting his options, Assad finally accepted the inevitability of his downfall and resolved to leave the country, ending his family’s dynastic rule which dates back to 1971.

Three members of Assad’s inner circle said he initially wanted to seek refuge in the United Arab Emirates, as rebels seized Aleppo and Homs and were advancing towards Damascus.

They said he was rebuffed by the Emiratis who feared an international backlash for harbouring a figure subject to US and European sanctions for allegedly using chemical weapons in a crackdown on insurgents, accusations that Assad has rejected as a fabrication.

The UAE government didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Yet Moscow, while unwilling to intervene militarily, was not prepared to abandon Assad, according to a Russian diplomatic source who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, attending the Doha forum in Qatar on Saturday and Sunday, spearheaded the diplomatic effort to secure the safety of Assad, engaging Turkey and Qatar to leverage their connections to HTS to secure Assad’s safe exit to Russia, two regional officials said.

One Western security source said that Lavrov did “whatever he could” to secure Assad’s safe departure.

Qatar and Turkey made arrangements with HTS to facilitate Assad’s exit, three of the sources said, despite official claim by both countries that they had no contacts with HTS, which is designated by the US and the UN as a terrorist organisation.

Moscow also coordinated with neighbouring states to ensure that a Russian plane leaving Syrian airspace with Assad on board would not be intercepted or targeted, three of the sources said.

When he decided to leave Syria, he did decide to burn Syria on the way out - how else to explain the Syrian Airforce and IADS putting down arms ? Must have been on orders from him ?

Al-Julani: Israel's arguments have ended and the Israelis have crossed the lines of engagement

First statement on the Israeli situation.

I don't understand why the overwhelming majority of anti-zionist, anti-US imperialism and pro Palestine western journalists are not liking what is happening in Syria, but on the same time pro-zionist and anti-Palestine journalists are cheering, and people here are sharing articles of same pro-zionist people telling us how Syria is good now?

Neither matters right now, as much as first stabilizing the state and establishing control over the parts of Syria held by the PKK, its 1/3 of Syria still outside of Damascus control, with most of the Oil there in the South.

The Yellow Part needs to be dealt with. Especially when the overwhelming amount of it is Arab Majority land occupied over by the PKK, who the Population doesn't want.

lol - In english to those who need a "literal" statement ?!!?

Brother, he literally gave the Order for ALL UNITS, to report to Damascus as once and come defend him for the Rebels advancing. Everyone in the South that was manning the posts in the Golan Buffer and the Mountains left, b/c they were ordered.

In the end it wasn't enough soldiers and his general sidelined Assad and negotiated with the Opposition to surrender peacefully. when he saw they weren't listening or going to fight for him and it was over, he ran like a coward, instead of dying while fighting like Sinwar did.

That would explain the army, but not airforce? Not a second response to Israeli airforce by either the IADS, or Airforce, right ?!

Because they invested to much intellectual effort during the years into the shaped narrative that assad is part of resistance and that all other regional actors are either terrorists or sell outs, seeing that false narrative has crumbled over days can not be fathomed easily and hidden not always outspoken reason they hate Turkiye as part of NATO and do not like that they are clear winner of the war against regime and emerging into dominant regional player with huge goodwill capital among people.
