Nope, Syria has already appointed its Prime Minister. HTS is already accepted as the main power there.

HTS will not go against SDF that is under US protection. Only SNA under Turkish that go after SDF but I believe it is only to capture some part of areas taken by SDF during HTS 10 days assault to Bashar regime.

Everything so far seems to be going on surprisingly well, considering Syria's past. Except the 'overenthusiasm' by Israel to secure its border. They should try more carrots and lay away sticks since the new guy seems to desire goodwill with everyone. I have absolutely no clue why this did not degenerate into Iraq, Libya or Afghanistan. Is Syrian culture so much better than the other three?

It's still early days. I'm predicting there be fighting between different factions. Unlike in Afghanistan where it is geographically isolated, Syria is smack in the middle of the middle east. Joulani does not have full support among the population.

This is one of those wars that makes no sense to me still. Palestinians were refugees, Jordan gave them asylum and PLO wanted to overthrow Jordan's king? This is similar to when many Palestinians were working in Kuwait, Saddam attacks Kuwait and PLO supports Saddam! And many people wonder why after October 7, all the Arab states are pretending to be deep asleep and refuse to be woken up.

Thats not it. One the PLO and Palestinians are not one of the same. The PLO supported Saddam b/c Saddam was giving them funding, so they were forced to support Saddam.

Palestinians at large did not support the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq. This wasn't a popular thing, compared to say support for the PLO against Abdullah.

With regards to Jordan, the issue is a lot more complex. The Jordanian monarchy are collaborators(for more information on this, i would recommend Chomsky, who has a book thats speaks about this, as well as the Israeli historian Avi Shlaim). Jordan didn't take them in as much as they flowed into Jordan after they were ethnically cleansed by Israel. It had no choice.

So the Jordanians(And by this I mean Abdullah) they play a double game, what the position is expressed publicly is different from the outlook shown privately.

If the Jordanian public knew the Head of the Shin Bet was meeting with the King, they would be outraged, but what they do, happens under the shadows, none of this gets press coverage in Jordan and the regime on the surface will deny it. Israel has a more free media so the inside scoops are more often published. More than often Jordanians in the know(those who follow the inside baseball) will learn about events from israeli news reports, which are more transparent about the dealings of their politicians.

How Jordanians actually feel with regards to critique of the monarchy is difficult, but safe to say many are sympathetic towards them more so than they are to Abdullah, but they will be arrested by the mukhabarat if they come out and say things publically against him, so there is a certain taboo on this matter.
