I don't hate Iran, but I find Iranian foreign policy to be annoying and frankly driven by hubris. Iran does not respect the interests and red lines of its neighbors and thinks it can do things without consequence and plays dangerous games. Now that 15 year project has blown up in its face, and rather than be pragmatic and have dialogue it decides to double down, creating further antagonism. And with its antagonism, it creates more enemies and loses goodwill.

Iran's policy towards Syria is the Wrong policy, its policy towards the PKK is the wrong policy, it doesn't have any respect and just does what it wants, without thinking of blowback.

Turkey has a specialty, she does everything slowly. I think the new Syrian government is a bit hesitant to give bases. Turkey's strong bases in Syria will ease the hand of the new Syrian government. I expect them to officially invite Turkey to Syria soon.
