It looks like Trump prevented another chapter of crisis in Syria. This was a good decision on his part in view of the current situation in Syria.
Ahmed al-Sharaa have managed to expand his influence in Syria and many listen to him. He is not perfect but his perception has shifted due to horrors of war that he has experienced first hand. He was among hundreds of Arab fighters who joined a resistance group in Iraq when Iraq was under NATO occupation with silent nod from the Assad regime but American troops captured him at some point and Iraqi authorities released him from captivity in 2011. He distanced himself from Iraqi affairs and turned on the Assad regime when conditions in Syria deteriorated.
Bashar al-Assad's greatest mistake was to ignore calls for political reforms from within Syria and misused Syrian military which slowly deteriorated during war due to resistance from different Syrian armed groups who found support in NATO. He created too many enemies within Syria and in foreign circles by hedging his bets on the Axis of Resistance and dragged Israel into war in Syria as well. He assumed that the Axis of Resistance could save his regime.
The lesson is to take local call for reforms seriously instead of igniting the region and inviting foreign forces to establish control because it leads to loss of credibility.
However, Syrians have made their choice. They desire an end to war and want to distance themselves from other conflict situations. These wishes should be respected. Pakistan also welcomes stability and peace in Syria.

Maybe you mean Assad dividing up Syria, considering he was crucial in the YPG/PKK coming to hold territory in Northern Syria. Assad empowered the PKK in Syria as a counter balance both to Pro Revolution Kurds from the Syrian branch of the KDP as well as a counter balance to the PKK, the PKK facilitated the US coming to Syria.
