DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar affirmed on Wednesday that terrorists had already lost the war, highlighting the nation's steadfast resilience against this menace and assuring the media of preparedness to deliver a fitting response to terrorism.

The remarks came a day after a group of six terrorists targeted a security forces' check post in the Daraban general area in the DI Khan district.

The assailants attempted to breach the post, leading to a thwarted attack that culminated in an explosive-laden vehicle being rammed into the post, followed by a suicide bombing.

Security forces in the vicinity were immediately mobilized to support the Police force and in the ensuing operation, all 5x terrorists were sent to hell.
However, during intense fire exchange with the terrorists, three brave Policemen, having fought gallantly, embraced shahadat.

In Karak, a joint search and strike operation was launched based on intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the Khurram Hills.
- An exchange of gunfire occurred between the terrorists and the police in the Khurram area hills.
- The terrorists managed to escape, a search operation is currently underway, and the surrounding area has been cordoned off to eliminate or apprehend the fleeing individuals.

Lakki police repulse attack on check post​

LAKKI MARWAT: The police repulsed a militant attack on Wanda Banochi checkpost near the Darra Pezu town of Lakki Marwat district here on Wednesday evening.

A police official said that the cops deployed at the post noticed movement of around a dozen militants in the night vision cameras and opened fire at them.

“The cops were alert and their prompt action stopped militants from launching a full-scale attack,” he maintained.
The official said that the assailants also fired at the police post, but the personnel retaliated vigorously and forced them to flee the area.

The official said that the policemen remained safe in the fire exchange and no damage to the post was reported.
He said that a large contingent of police along with armoured personnel carriers from nearby police stations reached the area and launched a search for the attackers.

The police post is located along the busy Bannu-DI Khan section of the Peshawar-Karachi highway in the mountains of Darra Pezu town.

On Dec 18, the police had foiled an attack on Chunda checkpost located along the same highway in DI Khan district.

Official sources said unknown militants attacked the post with heavy weapons, prompting the soldiers to retaliate.

They said a fierce gun battle ensured and sounds of explosions were heard in the area. The gunfight continued for some time and the security forces foiled the terror attack gallantly, forcing the assailants to flee. They said the soldiers remained unhurt in the attack.

The security forces launched a search for the attackers later.
