9 more terrorists killed in ongoing operation in Balochistan, taking overall tally since July 5 to 88: state media

News Desk
July 11, 2026

Citing security sources, state-run Pakistan TV reported on Saturday that nine more terrorists had been killed in the ongoing operation in Balochistan, taking the overall tally since July 5 to 88.

“Operation Shaban continues across Balochistan as the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps and police intensify coordinated air and ground operations against terrorist hideouts,” it said on the social media platform X.

“According to security sources, nine terrorists were killed in the latest action, taking the total eliminated under Operation Shaban to 52 and the overall tally since July 5, including intelligence-based operations, to 88,” it said.

“Security sources say the operation will continue until the last terrorist is eliminated,” it added.
Security sources said on Friday that security forces, including the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps and police, had been conducting a joint operation in Quetta district’s Shaban area since July 5 against terrorists involved in the killing of 27 police personnel during an attack on a police post at Mangi dam pumping station.

The terrorists had martyred nine police personnel, including two station house officers, and taken away 18 other policemen at gunpoint. Later, they killed the abducted police personnel, whose bodies were found in the Zarghoon Gar mountainous area.

When I saw Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman's sour mood in the palace, it reminded me that whenever Pakistan starts operations against terrorists coming from Afghanistan or destroys their hideouts there, for some reason Maulana turns red and yellow and begins cursing the army.

Anyway, it was 2007, elections were around the corner. Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman requested a meeting with Anne Patterson, the U.S. ambassador in Pakistan at the time. Once the meeting began, Maulana said to the U.S. ambassador in a plaintive voice, "If I become Prime Minister, will America deal with me?" (Meaning, he was telling the U.S. ambassador that he's a very useful guy too.) WikiLeaks.

Now the issue is that Maulana has been the sole democratic leader of his party since his father's death in 1980 up to today in 2026. In his previous 46 years of politics, Maulana has amassed plenty of wealth and property, but his long-standing desire to become president or prime minister has never been fulfilled. And Maulana wants the establishment to at least make him president, so every now and then he vents his frustration in rallies.

Note! The image attached to the video is of that WikiLeaks cable in which Maulana, with longing eyes and a voice full of pain, is telling the U.S. ambassador about his troubles.
