What did you not like about the Tesla Model S Plaid???
I know people who have traded in their Porsche to own this car and they think it is the greatest car ever made. It's a 9 second car.

The Tesla Model S Plaid is undoubtedly a technological masterpiece, but the build quality, compared to the German cars Ive been familiar with since my youth, is disappointing, it’s simply not up to standard. The car is primarily designed for sportiness and performance, which results in a very stiff suspension. Over time, this driving experience became exhausting for me. While I was able to push the car on the A1 in Germany quite often, it ultimately felt overpowered for my taste.

I also noticed with the Model Y Performance, which has nearly 600 horsepower, that the car became quite unstable at 200 km/h. The suspension didnt seem capable of handling the performance properly, especially on long highway drives. The biggest issue, however remains the constant need to recharge. Even though you can charge at home, I often found myself driving with a low battery percentage to the next charging station, only to discover that it was out of order.

For me, it was the overall package that didn’t add up. The infrastructure, the service, and the build quality, all in all, its just "outrageous" for a car in this price range.

By the way, I know someone who sold his Model S Plaid and switched to a Porsche Taycan. Because, after a certain point the performance loses its appeal and you start to miss the comfort of a German car that glides effortlessly on the highway. A Porsche 911, for example, I wouldnt trade for a Tesla, no matter how much money was offered.

To each his own.

I have a Model Y Long Range. This a family SUV not a race car.
Since superchargers are widespread here charging is not a problem.
I even use a simple 120V plug.

No electric version, I would never get a Porsche as an electric car. I had a Porsche 911 Carrera and would never get it as an electric car.

The magnificent Chinese auto market in 2024 is about to pass. In this year, BYD continues to advance triumphantly, fuel vehicles led by Volkswagen and Toyota are fighting back, and Geely and Changan are catching up. At the same time, new forces such as Ideal, Wenjie, and Leapmotor are rising rapidly.

According to terminal sales data, China's passenger car terminal sales reached 20.405 million units from January to November 2024, a year-on-year increase of 6.4%. It is predicted that China's passenger car terminal sales in December will be 2.86 million units, a year-on-year increase of 12.8%. China's passenger car terminal sales in 2024 will be about 24 million units, a year-on-year increase of 7.8%.

Among them, China's terminal sales of new energy vehicles from January to November reached 9.466 million units, and the terminal sales of new energy vehicles in December are expected to reach 1.48 million units, a year-on-year increase of 66%. It is expected that China's terminal sales of new energy vehicles will reach 11 million units in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 50%, and the penetration rate will reach 46%.

In December every year, major automakers usually increase their sales efforts, and the total volume generally increases by about 20% compared to November. Based on this, we multiply the terminal sales data in November by a coefficient of 1.2 to predict the terminal sales in December, and estimate the terminal sales of China's TOP50 automobiles and China's TOP50 new energy vehicles in 2024.

Tesla sells all-time high of about 83,000 cars in China in Dec

  • Tesla sold about 196,900 vehicles in China in the fourth quarter, contributing 40 percent of global deliveries.
  • It sold about 657,000 units in China for the full year 2024, up 8.8 percent. By contrast, it's global deliveries in 2024 were down 1.07 percent from 2023, the first decline in more than a decade.
Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) sold a record number of electric vehicles (EVs) in China last month, as fourth-quarter deliveries hit a record high, albeit below Wall Street expectations.

The US electric vehicle (EV) maker sold an all-time high about 83,000 units in China in December, up 12.8 percent from November, Tesla said last night.

For the full year 2024, Tesla sold about 657,000 units in China, up 8.8 percent year-on-year and also an all-time high, it said.

The company did not mention figures detailed into single digits, which are expected to be available soon in data published by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

A simple calculation by CnEVPost based on the growth rate mentioned by Tesla shows that Tesla sold about 82,896 units in China in December. For the company, its retail sales in China are deliveries.

The EV maker delivered a record 495,570 vehicles globally in the fourth quarter, but fell short of analysts' expectations of 512,277, according to data it released yesterday.

Deliveries for the quarter were up 2.28 percent from 484,507 in the same period in 2023 and up 7.06 percent from 462,890 in the third quarter.

For the full year 2024, Tesla delivered 1,789,226 vehicles worldwide, down 1.07 percent from 1,808,581 in 2023, the first decline in more than a decade.

Tesla sold about 196,900 vehicles in China in the fourth quarter, contributing 40 percent of global deliveries, CnEVPost calculations show.

That's up 16 percent year-on-year and up 8 percent from the third quarter.

For the full year 2024, sales in China contributed about 37 percent of Tesla's global deliveries.
