TF-X / KAAN / Hürjet Turkish Fighter & Trainer Aircrafts News & Discussions

It is said that a major fire broke out at the TUSAŞ facility. There are those who say the fire started from a generator and has been brought under control. It is unfortunate that the necessary precautions were not taken at such a critical facility. I hope there is no loss of life.

Sabotage should not be ruled out. There are plenty of evil elements trying to slow down Turkey's Defense industrial growth.

HURJET /ANKA-3 MUM-T concept

ANKA-3 continues to hold the title of the world's first and only unmanned fighter jet capable of performing munition launches while being controlled by a manned Aircraft.

The second name closest to earning this title is once again a Turkish one… KIZILELMA

Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) is a core defining capability of 6th-gen Fighter Systems

Advanced AI handles the flight and low-level tactical decisions of the unmanned Fighter Jets, ensuring the human pilot is not overwhelmed with multitasking

USA and Turkiye leads this technology in the World

TUSAŞ General Manager Demiroğlu:

🔹We already have 10 F110 engines in stock for our KAAN prototypes.

🔹As of July 9, we have received an export license for 80 more engines.

🔹Deliveries for HÜRKUŞ are starting this month.

🔹2 Hürjet prototypes have reached 500 flight hours. There are 4 more prototypes on the way, and we will see them take to the air this year. On display at the Airshow.

Countries developed Fighter Jets with foreign Engine

CHINA .... 2011-2021 ( J-20 used Russian Engine )

The J-20 conducted its maiden flight in 2011, powered by imported Russian Engine ( Saturn AL-31F )

Between 2011 and 2015, China built several technology demonstrators and prototypes using Russian AL-31F series Engines

All initial mass production batches of the J-20 entering service in 2017 still heavily relied on these Russian Engine

in 2021 , The Russian Engines were completely replaced on the assembly lines by the domestic WS-10C Engine

----------------------------------------------------------------------

S.KOREA

The KF-21 conducted its maiden flight in 2022, powered by imported American Engine ( F414-GE-400K )

in 2026 , KAI officially rolled out the first mass-produced KF-21 Block I with American Engine

S.Korea has started developing 24.000 lbs indigenous turbofan Engine to power the KF-21 in 2040

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

TURKIYE

The KAAN conducted its maiden flight in 2024, powered by imported American Engine ( F110-GE-129 )

Initial mass production batches of the KAAN Block-10 entering service in 2028-2030 period will be powered by American Engine

Turkiye has started developing 35.000 lbs TF-35.000 indigenous turbofan Engine to power the KAAN in 2033-2035 period

Like the early phases of China’s J-20, the KAAN relies on a proven Engine for first flight and initial mass production while its domestic alternative undergoes development.

5th gen Fighter
All-Aspect Stealth
Sensor Fusion
Supercruise
Network-Centric Warfare
Extreme Maneuverability
It's not exactly the right LM definition.

Remove "Network centric warfare" and add "affordable" : that was the LM definition. We were somewhere in the mid 90's.....

TUSAŞ General Manager Mehmet Demiroğlu announced for Avionot followers

" KAAN P1 will take flight very soon, P2 will fly with it within this year. In 2027, serial production prototypes will take to the skies."

If the 2 are so similar, so in the same weight zone, F110 may seemed a little bit short on power, isnt't it?

It's not impossible to get the F-35s and the engines. There is a high likelihood Turkey will be betrayed, just keep that in mind. I think giving up the S-400 is a mistake. Turkey should have a laser focus on the their own engines.

S400 isnt the ultimate weapon to ensure defence anymore. We all have seen how it performed recently in Russia, and India (where Pakistan was able to target its radar). Turkey have its own SAM systems that maybe more capable and modern than S400 anyway.

Siper has much more advanced Radars than S400 big bird or others(probably missile seeker too), but range is not there yet, we probably solve range problem with a booster like SM6. so basically no need a foreign system at home.

Even if you consider Block 1 super. Its range is in excess of 100 km. That is almost 30,000 sq.km covered area. By a single SAM. So range is there.

The block 2 is expected to have 150 km range. That gives you covered area of 70000 sq.km. obviously this is not going to be the case for all weapons. It will be less for cruise missles flying low, and more for fighter jets and other attack assets.

one more thing, turk always keeps secret some specs
