TF-X / KAAN / Hürjet Turkish Fighter & Trainer Aircrafts News & Discussions

I have a bold take that China might offer the technology of the 35,000 lbs turbofan engine to Turkiye if it can withdraw its membership from NATO.

Otherwise, if Turkiye remains as NATO member, China cannot risk the critical specs of its engine technology being disclosed to NATO.

Although the WS-10C or even the WS-15 might not be China's most advanced jet engine technology anymore. However, China still has large number of 4.5th/5th gen fighter being equipped with these engines.

KAAN is becoming the pride for the entire Islamic world, and the US is becoming a full fledged MAGA country, and becoming increasingly hostile to the non-white countries, plus the influence from Israel. It is close to 100% impossible that the US will assist Turkiye to develop its 5th gen engine technology.

And Russia is always struggling to mass produce 5th gen jet engines, and the Ukrainian war has really exhausted them, and it is unlikely that they can offer any real tangible assistance to Turkiye in the next 1-2 decades.

China is becoming the only remaining possibility for KAAN's 5th gen jet engine.

However, the Chinese leadership don't want to take any risk if this deal has no real good return to China, but only with potential military secret breach to NATO.

If Turkiye can become a non-NATO country and getting politically close to China, then China will consider the reward of 35,000 lbs jet engine technology.

That's too bold, there is no way, plus, why are we even talking about such thing when orange man always changes his policy every other day.

We can be sure that no matter how he is doing flip-flop everyday, but his hostility towards the non-western countries will be staunchly consistent.

We are now witnessing the dynamic change in the world's geopolitics that had never happened in the past 500 years. And everything can happen right now.

If Turkiye is willing to show its sincerity by severing its ties with NATO, then China will reciprocate its payoff.

They are not going to withdraw from nato, they have bunch of coperation with Nato countries and don't forget they just bought typhoon and still having hundred of F16 as their airforce backbone, hold your horse for now.

If they want to remain in NATO, then too bad, China's technologies are not cheap to learn, and it has already outclassed/dominated the entire western world in most domains, only a few niche domains/puzzles where the western world still remains slightly ahead, but China will get them all in the next few years.

High end semiconductor, EUV, NG nuclear subs, Heavy lift reusable launch system etc, there are still quiet a lot hardest nut to crack.
Anyway, this is not a place to discussed these things.

I just want to re-iterate that the TOT of the critical technology 5th gen jet fighter engine needs to be bundled with geopolitical conditions.

We don't know what exactly the Chinese senior leaders have in their mind, but if we can extrapolate their way of thinking and behavior, this will be the most likely demand if Turkiye wants the TOT of the 5th gen jet engine technology.

There are only two countries in the world who can mass produce the 5th gen jet engine which are China and the US, and Russia cannot mass produce the 5th gen jet engine.

It is unlikely that Turkiye can reverse engineer the 35,000 lbs jet engine without being one of the two superpowers.

If China can have an opportunity to crack a rift on NATO by enticing Turkiye out with its 5th gen jet engine technology, and I am pretty sure that China is willing to pay the deal.

Turkiye can choose to stay in the NATO, but they won't get any TOT from the US for their KAAN.

Turkiye doesnt want technology transfer
Turkiye needs engines to produce at least 20 KAAN until 2029 to avoid the shortage of 5th gen Fighter Jet

Greece gets 20 F-35A between 2028 and 2030

Turkiye develops its own 35.000 lbf 5th gen Engine ... but it takes 7 years for mass production

Our NATO allies have been stalling the sale of F-16V , F-35A and Eurofighter to Turkiye for years

If USA had not blocked the sale of 100 F-35A to Türkiye, we would not have an urgent request to purchase engines for KAAN ... China would not even be on the agenda for WS-10B Engine

Turkiye can choose to stay in the NATO, but they won't get any TOT from the US for their KAAN.

Turkiye learned many things from license production of American Engines
( GE F-110 turbofan and T700-TEI-701D Turboshaft Engine )

Turkiye produced 323 F-110 turbofan Engines under license
Also Turkiye produced 316 F-16 Fighter Jets under license

USA gave F-110 Engines to develop KAAN prototypes
on the other hand what China did for Pakistan ?
can China give WS-10B engine and J-10C Fighter to Pakistan for under license production ?

------------------------------------------

TEI TS-1400 domestic and national turboshaft engine will power the T625 GÖKBEY 6 Ton Utility Helicopter for mass production in 2027

Utility Helicopter with Turboshaft Engine Technology in the World
USA :
S-70 Black Hawk ( General Electric T700-GE-701D )
UK : AW159 Wildcat - Rolls-Royce Turbomeca RTM322
France : EC-725 ( Turboméca ( SAFRAN ) Makila 2A1 )
Russia : MI-38 ( Klimov TV7-117V )
China : Z-18 ( WZ-6C )
Turkiye : T-625 Gökbey ( TEI TS-1400 )

Turkiye has started developing the TS-1400 turboshaft Engine in 2017 and in 10 years ( 2017-2027 ) turboshaft engine enter mass production phase

Sooner or later Turkiye will join the elite club in 5th gen turbofan Engine technology

Just the fact that KAAN was produced and flown domestically with all its systems is a great success.

With the localization of the ejection seat and engine , KAAN will be completely indigenous

Impossible. We don’t care about the relationship between Türkiye and NATO. That is something the Russians need to worry about. WS-10B cannot be easily exported. We have spent countless efforts to develop this engine. We can't give him to a country that has close ties with the East Turkestan rebels.

Any truth in the news Spain is scraping its F35 procurement and reviewing Kaan?

Dude, just sell them dozens and take money before their own engine matures, political conditioning is western tool of subjugation, it would be better if you just say our advanced engines are not for sale and move on some other mutual beneficial projects if any such exists.

Nothing concrete on the KAAN, but the F-35's for Spain are being reviewed b/c of the geopolitics. Many EU states are trying to buy EU capabilities and not American due to the Trump unreliability.

China is what make the multipolar world today. Their technology is what creates a western alternative . Without China, the world is still a unipolar world and US would still decide the fate of every country. With China, the other countries in the world has an alternative In technology, economy, policy and path.

For example, Russia can survive after western sanctions because China provides it an alternative. Most people don’t want to make a big deal out of it. But as Taiwanese, we need to see the world as it is to survive. We can’t rely on any propaganda for facts. And China is coming across weaker than it is because it’s still keeping a low profile. But it’s enough to be an alternative. Just look at Russian economy and Pakistan vs India air battles. And the trump tariff wars. The world has an alternative choice.
