The death of US defense autonomy - 2027 National Defense Authorization Act

Interestingly, just today a Neighborhood email forum has a member posted this with a title of "A Generation Lost to Narcissism".
It is apathy for the most part and partly most people are just trying to survive in their day to day life. Too much on everyone's brain to look into the details of Congressional laws and procedures--until it affects them.

"A generation lost to narcissism. A populace that believes that no experience is worth having unless it can be uploaded and has received its fair share of "clicks" or "hits". We are living in a time when outrage is favored over understanding. The fact that people complain about the Post Office without knowing that Washington D. C. passed a law forcing the PO (a nonprofit) to fund their retirement plan 75 years into the future while UPS and Fedex lobbyists bribe politicians of both parties in order to profit off of PO restrictions is mind boggling to me. Or that my taxes pay $4 billion a year to foreign oil companies for their leases on Canadian built oil rigs for which we get nothing. The amount of misinformation being slung around while promised political action to lower gas groceries childcare healthcare that never comes is ridiculous. Politicians who get elected to $175,000/yr jobs and come out multi millionaires doesn't register to us. It's always the "other party's" fault. Promises to stop useless spending by all parties on wars halfway around the world never stops. Our government spends more on debt interest payments than on Defense!! My taxes are spent on immigration, ballrooms, and gold plated decor in the Oval Office or Washington D. C. reflecting pools instead of making life in the US affordable. All the while, our individual preferred "news" spoon feeds us pablum about who's using which friggin bathroom or one group of people that we don't like might be getting something we think they don't deserve. All while WE can't afford groceries or gas or healthcare, It is repugnant as the mindless pursuit of right vs left instead of right vs wrong marches on. Shame on all of us for leaving this mess to our children while we ignore the rot that has been and still is taking place in Washington because we're distracted with silly slogans or name calling for several decades. If you want to know who is to blame, look at the lazy thinker in the mirror while patting yourself on the back for working Republicants or Dumocrats into your conversations. Now, Go ahead, throw your worst at me. I couldn't care less. We have screwed the pooch so bad we deserve what's coming. And make no mistake. It IS coming."

And what Israel will sell to India will go on just the same with or without this section. Or what USA will share with India, for that matter, will also go on regardless of the provisions in this section.

The purpose of this section is to introduce change. If there is no new change required, then there is no need to introduce this section. The materiality is the significance of the need of making the change itself in the section. Why bother unless it is required, and if it is required, what is the impact and is important?

You can chose to ignore the use of technology to develop weapons, the significance of the infusion of "new" American tax payer funded technology to develop weapons to Israel, and the historical precedent of the sale of weapons from Israel to India as "not being" significant to Pakistan as nothing more than "conjecture". If you cannot see the cause and effect of that, and prefer to view it as "conjecture" until you see new weapons land in New Delhi, then I will leave you with those thoughts.

Others can take their view and determine their conclusions based on the discussions so far.

The purpose of this section is to introduce change.

I hope you realize that this section merely asks for appointing a DoD executive agent to synchronize the cooperative effort between the United States and Israel, to expand and accelerate defense cooperation that is already ongoing. This is more of an administrative change than anything else.

infusion of "new" American tax payer funded technology to develop weapons to Israel,

No, it is to share in the development of new technologies that will benefit both countries. If any other country offered the same mutual benefits, then it would happen in the same manner.

historical precedent of the sale of weapons from Israel to India as "not being" significant to Pakistan

Of course there is a historical precedent of Israeli defense sales to India, and of course it is important to Pakistan. But to relate Section 224 to that is indeed a fanciful conjecture, and does not affect it in any way. Those are entirely different matters.

Maybe they are just waiting "administrative change than anything else" for this this too ;) lol...
Well if they do happen too do this "Administrative change" I will have to take oath on Israeli flag with their national anthem ? damn now i have to learn Hebrew ? It took my more than half a life to learn some English.

Damn i will be disappointed if America become the 2nd State of Israel.

Isn't that what many here claim has already happened? Even that would then be nothing new. :D

Besides, this is also coming from you:

Willing to Spy for America if my handler is Alexandra Daddario, CIA can recruit me any day, but I won't work weekends.

ROFL!

Seriously?

Maybe. But there will be a due process for that too. I guess we will have to wait and see. Maybe Section 224 is the first step? :D

Ok, no surprise that I'm leading the train off the track. Need to spend some time today researching the NDAA. There's enough happening in DC at the moment regarding ICE, the anti-weaponization fund, etc. that I've not had a chance to read up on this.

I posted the link to the entire NDAA 2027 and the text of Sec. 224 above if that helps.

Yes, saw that. Thanks.

Am interested in the various discussions, etc. Can often find nuggets in there. Sort of like the latest posts over in US Economy regarding April and May jobs reports. A little digging suggests things may not be as rosy as a couple of Twitter posts suggest.
