Yeah, I forget to put down rare earth minerals. Good China controls the mines now. Should keep the Yanks at bay. That's why China need to control or rein in Myanmar at least strategically for China's own security.

All of the rare earth mining is pretty much done by Kachin or Wa state which is right on China's border. China has huge control of this region not only through ethnic chinese militias but also tourism, gambling, trade etc. There is no way America can crack this region right on chinas border.

Most component sourcing and raw material flows are still clustered in the East, so proximity to those networks matters a lot. Take Vietnam, for instance. Vietnam's heavy industry and manufacturing capacity are concentrated up North, near those supply chains. South Vietnam is much more about finance, consumer markets, and light manufacturing. So having coastline is great on paper, but the real question is whether your inputs can actually reach you efficiently.

Yup correct, it should be seen in a holistic way, but for Indonesia case, most of our industry are in coast line, those that are not in the coast line usually are setting up the industry near the main city as the main market like for instant many industry are set up in greater Jakarta (not in the city, but close proximity with the city where the land are still much cheaper).

While Main cities in Indonesia are essentially also a port city like Jakarta, Surabaya, Semarang, Medan, Batam, Riau, Makassar, Balikpapan etc, so the industry will have market and close proximity to the port in the coast lines (whether to export or to get raw material/other input from the city port)

Just my analysis, for Vietnam the industry (if not in the coast line) is close to the Mekong River right ? That is pretty much the same with coast line as Mekong River is large and many ports are likely there. The areas are likely those with big population as well as market and to get the labor
