The ‘myth’ of Western-style democracy is losing its appeal even in the West (China Global Times editorial)

Look, the political system is not a single measurement; it's not just simply a one-word wonder. Is it a good one when everyone is "happy"? Is it a good one when everyone is "rich"? Is it a good one when everyone is "healthy"? It was never defined by one single parameter, because a community is a matrix of factors, and no system is perfect.

That's a lot of word salad and a lot deflections. You speak with the same exuberance which the expat Pakistanis and Iranians living in Western countries. But, yes, those 'happy' criteria are universally good enough.

As for China, Xi is the supreme leader, so yes, all decisions he made are his alone. Again, he may ask people for advice, but this is not a group decision like we make them in Congress, where the president only has the power to Veto but not to table bills. Xi can nominate policy and execute it, that means it's his power, and he alone has that power, not his consultant, not the People Congress.

Not from what some Chinese members above have said. BTW, now that the US elections are over and one of the major causes for the Republicans' rout is the war on Iran. And despite that, Trump can use his virtual unchecked powers to escalate the war even more and bring the world and the Americans to even more misery. Yup, one man! And yet America is known as the 'best democracy in the world'. That's a one-man rule even if in limited but still very dangerous sphere. I don't see China's Xi acting like that.

So true, brother. I concur with you 100%.

It is a known fact China is run by the group of 7 members Politburo Standing Committe and important decisions are usually decided by the larger group of 25 Politburo members. Xi doesnt have the vote power as the US president does, but Xi has influences in the population.

I am waiting for the day China overcomes USA as the world's largest economy in NOMINAL GDP. Then we can say China has truly done it.

Like China overcame Japan's NOMINAL GDP in 2010.

That would be a great moment for China, probably going to happen before 2049 the 100 years founding of PRC. Or it could happen much sooner with Chinese curency RMB expected to appreciate significantly in the coming year.

Indeed it would be. I advise the Central Asian Republics like Uzbekistan to side with China over Russia or USA.

talk about how big decisions (like wars or big economy things) are taken in USA and China, it's too much guess. Really we dont know for sure much about it.

how lobbies and bankers influence politicians in such big decisions in USA? We dont have a clue. Most of public information is BS.

Again, this is not a single objective criterion; word salad or not, you have to be naive to believe a political system is a single direction

And I know enough people to know they aren't satisfied with a system but not rich or religiously fulfilled; they would still vote out these people. I mean, just look at how Trump got back into office in 24.

I don't know who told you the US is known to be "the best democracy in the world." I can tell you from where I am, a lot of people will say otherwise, and it's not just since Trump came back; also, Trump did not do this alone; he had the whole system backing him. The Senate and Congress had to do nothing and connived with him for him to abuse that power, or do you really think Hegeseth and Rubio and Vance or even Don Jr. and Jared Crushner had nothing to do with this?

And Xi is actually like that; take a look at how the Building Industry collapsed, and you know how Xi single-handedly collapsed the entire industry. But if you don't want to see and just want to go by and live ignorantly after it, that's your call.
