The situation that causes fear in the hearts of american elites is not Soviet Union or Russia or even China. Since the end of WW2 it has always been an alliance between Russia and Germany.

In American minds, it took the entire might of the white race to stop hitler. If Germany ever embraces Russia, American existence is threatened immedietely.

This is why America bombed the gas pipelines from Russia to Germany and maintains presence in Europe with the sole focus of preventing this ever happening.

American grand strategy views a coalition between Germany and Russia as a core geopolitical threat. [1]
This fear centers on preventing a single Eurasian hegemon combining German technology and capital with Russian resources and manpower, which could challenge American global preeminence and control of the oceans. [1, 2]

The Geopolitical Logic
    • Resource and Industrial Synergy: Germany provides advanced industrial capacity, engineering, and capital, while Russia supplies vast raw materials, energy, and manpower. [1, 2]
    • Eurasian Hegemony: A unified bloc spanning Central Europe to the Pacific would hold enough systemic weight to marginalize American influence in the Old World. [1, 2]
    • Historical Precedent: U.S. interventions across the 20th century—including World War I, World War II, and the Cold War—were structurally driven by the necessity of preventing any single power or alliance from dominating the European landmass. [1, 2]

Strategic Management
    • Anchoring Europe: U.S. policy traditionally favors binding Western states, particularly Germany, tightly into multilateral frameworks like NATO to ensure alignment and strategic stability. [1]
    • The Buffer Zone: Maintaining a political and security separation (a cordon sanitaire) across Eastern Europe prevents the deep integration of Russian supply lines with Western European industrial centers. [1, 2]
