MIRACALE EFFICIENCY

July 23, 2026

Two Registered international mail letters were posted first one in June and the other in July. The first one was received at 07.53 am and the second at 6.57 am at the in International Mail Office Karachi. The first one at 09.04 am and the second at 07.18 am were sent to the Customs. Customs after recording, inspection, making observation entries returned back the items to IMO first one at 09.07 am and second one at 07.22 am See the speed with which all this process was completed within 03 and 04 minute.

2. Next day the first item was received at GPO at 11.46 am and the second one at 10.50 am at the Gulshan-e-Iqbal Post.

3. Here one needs to hold his/her breath for a minute. Receiving at 11.46 am and 10.50 am, same 11.46 am and 10.50 am within same “50 minute hand” the items were sent out for delivery to the addressees meaning the beat postmen at both delivery post offices well knew these letters were coming, as such they stood standby riding on cycles only to catch the item, paddle and rush for delivery.

4. Early morning from main sorting office the mail comes duly sealed in mail bags. All registered items for the concerned delivery post office are received in one pile, rapped with thread and sealed. The number of items are tallied with the list received. Then the postal clerk segregates all these registered items area/beat wise which takes a bit time. After that the concerned cleark prepares small paper slips on which he writes by hand (in Pakistan) the Tracking Code of the item. Finally these slips are stapled or glued with the concerned article on which the postman takes signature of the addressee and in the evening deposits these receipts with the postal clerk. Each postman irrespective after taking ordinary mail, registered mail and money orders from the concerned clerk and parcels from the other goes to his bench and arrange delivery of all item serial wise from the point of his entry into his beat and first street coming under service which process in no case takes less than an hour.

5. The first June letter was received at PMG Sindh Province Karachi at 03.27 pm and at same 03.27 pm within a minute was as per tracking sttus delivered to the Karachi City GPO to addressee. In 1950s till mid 1970s there used to be two deliveries a day in big cities. First delivery delivered all articles like letters, registered articles, parcels etc. The second delivery usually left mid day but only and only with ordinary letters. Since increase in postal staff salaries, increase in strength of staff, this second delivery vanished. Today delivery is only in the morning meaning the postmen 11.00, 11.30 am maximum leave to be returned after 04.00, 05.00 no postman leaves for delivery after 12.00 mid day and that too for a registered letter except for Pakpost Express Delivery Services on motorcycles.

6. Both these letters were received in the International Mail Office Karachi before 08.00 am which is the start of office timing.

7. In both these items, it be observed all this process namely arrival in the post office and rushing out for delivery all was completed within same single minute.

8. Donald Trump recently praised the skills of the Pakistanis. There should be no doubt in it. World takes that the computerized dateline of entry can’t in any case be changed except for changing the clock in the server. How skilled and clever are we that we can manufacture figure at our own wills. False figures have become our specialty. Our Finance Minister gave wrong figures to the world bank, fetched heavy penalty to the debit ridden country and we as an award rewarded him for higher post.

9. Years back one item remained lying in the post office for 4-5 days when my addressee had himself then to go to Post Office to collect. A complaint was lodged. From the same single PMG Karachi came two versions. First one that there was heavy load in the concerned beat hence the postman could not deliver timely. The reply added further from the same very PMG Karachi was that the concerned postman has been warned and a copy of the warning letter was attached with his reply. No one at the Federal Ombudsman office applied his mind that if load was so much then it was the negligence of the PMG and the sub postmaster who could not divide the beats realistically and that if the PMG was not twisting the facts before the Ombudsman then why the innocent postman was issued a warning? This warning in that case should had been to the PMG and the sub postmaster. On a wrong double wrong coated under lies were thus technically officially protected and encouraged.

10. Recently the Minister for Post changed the top Pak Post management giving them three months to report. What else more can be the efficiency and the leadership of new management that today within one single a process of one hour is completed. Why should such a team not be given assignments of other ailing departments like steel mills, PTV etc.
