Three people were killed while seven others were injured as a result of an explosion on Thursday in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mardan district when an explosive device planted on a bridge was set off, police officials said.

Pakistan has seen a significant rise in terror-related incidents across the country, particularly after the militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) broke a truce with the government in November 2022 and began targeting security personnel.

In response to the rising terrorist attacks, the Apex Committee of National Action Plan announced the launch of Operation Azm-e-Istehkam (Resolve for Stability) last month to eradicate terrorism and extremism from the country.

Mardan District Police Officer (DPO) Zahoor Barbar Afridi told Dawn.com that the blast occurred as a police vehicle was passing along a bridge in the Takhtbhai Jalala area of the district.

“A speeding rickshaw on the bridge was also caught in the explosion, killing three people, while seven others, including two policemen, sustained injuries,” Afridi said.

Rescue 1122 confirmed that one of the deceased initially survived the blast, but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Superintendent of Police Saddar Circle, Khalid Khan, told Dawn.com that unidentified terrorists planted the device near the bridge and detonated it as the police vehicle was passing by.

He further said that a large contingent of police had arrived at the scene and launched a search operation, while rescue personnel shifted the wounded to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Takhtbhai.

DPO Afridi also confirmed that a search operation for suspects was underway, adding that the explosion was set off via remote control.

A statement from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on social media platform X condemned the blast. Naqvi also extended his condolences to the victims.

Earlier this week, a security official was martyred and four others sustained injuries when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded near a vehicle carrying security personnel to the Iskalku area of Kalat district, officials said on Tuesday.

The vehicle was hit while en route to Iskalku, where posts were set up to guard the oil and gas exploration site of a petroleum company.

Innocent people have once again been targeted by the Khawarij of the so-called jihadist organization TTP.

Today, on July 5, 2024, a sad incident took place in Takht Bhai area of Mardan. Two people were killed and 8 injured due to the explosion of explosives planted by the Khawarij of the so-called jihadist organization Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

The surprising thing is that this riotous organization always takes the stand that their war is not against the common people but against the security agencies of Pakistan, but the fact is that the real target of these Khawarij is the common people because the explosion Jalala. On the bridge where there is a rush of people every day.

The words and deeds of this anti-Islamic and anti-people organization have come to the fore.

Targeting innocent people by TTP is nothing new. Since day one, these Khawarij have been showing their weakness on innocent children, women and people.

Several such incidents came to light one after the other in which innocent children lost their lives due to landmines planted by TTP. On June 5, 2024, a child was martyred and another child injured due to the explosion of a mine planted by TTP in Bajaur.

At the same time, women were brutalized by TTP from time to time. Recently, these Khawarij tried to burn down a girls' school in Mansehra.

Of course, these Kharijites are enemies of the development of the people.

One of the main objectives of Al-Azam al-Shabaab is to bring these Khawarij to hell, but this incident is a mirror for those who oppose Al-Azam Al-Shabaab against terrorists to protect their personal interests, drug and smuggling business. .

Mardan- A blast on the Takhtbhai Jalala bridge resulted in the martyrdom of two civilians and injuries to six individuals, including police personnel.

The explosion was allegedly caused by explosives placed under the bridge, to target police vehicle.

Police and the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) are investigating the incident.

Why isnt THEIR community doing something about the Radicalism of their Children?Surely they must know of people doing this? Why are they not being reported to the authorities? Why are tribal leaders NOT doing more? It’s easy to blame the police/ authorities but surely community leaders need to step up and be accountable.

We should do what the irani’s do with Al-Gurdish terrorists. They launch a big volley of missiles and drones at PKK, YPG and PJAK bases deep inside Syria and Iraq. Immediately the attacks stop because the leaders/ organizers get killed along with their CIA/Israeli handlers.

Hard to believe we are not using our drones and missiles to target TTP inside Afghanistan.

They are doing nothing, they turn a blind eye to the deshatgardi even when their own people suffer and die and become the main targets

Bomb them inside Afghanistan on hourly bases, not even daily bases. But right now forces have lost all the public store and one person who maybe able to reduce public anger towards forces is in Jail.
how about firdt holding those responsible for this lapse of security accountable isi and PA? onvestigate why our security agencies are failing miserably

This is entirely anecdotal but I don’t think the property dealers can deal with the turmoil.

In my previous trip to Pakistan, I was staying at a hotel in Lahore. While waiting in the lobby for my Uber, I noticed ton of Chinese and their Pakistanis point of contacts. It seems the Chinese were told to move to another hotel (guarded by the Chinese security forces). The Chinese refused to move unless police escort were provided as per their SOP. The Pakistani contact and I struck up a conversation and i asked what was going on, he said the government is refusing to provide the escort and the Chinese won’t move unless they had an escort. I was shocked at this given that we were in the posh part of one of the more “safer” city of Pakistan.

Same trip, I was flying to Skardu. On my flight were bunch of foreign military officers from the US to Arab allies. Apparently even Skardu wasn’t safe for folks on official trips as the government/military put all resources and made arrangements for these officers to stay at specific hotel in skardu city.

My local driver told me how even that hotel wasn’t properly guarded.

The point I’m trying to get at is the sheer incompetency, or rather deliberate neglect of security for foreigners here on official trip.

I’m sold that the real estate agents are doing the bare minimum and right now just making sure their pockets are filled while while the whole country goes to hell. After all, a proper functioning country will put security on top of their agenda to make sure economy and foreign investment is protected at all costs.

Take for example Times Sq NYC. The amount of security you will see (open and hidden) is unparalleled because it’s a multibillion spot for tourism. The Americans understand how everything is tied down to security. Nothing else matters.

Are the authorities deliberately ordered from outsiders to dither and neglect development of the country? Right now to someone like me, that’s exactly why it seems like. I mean the KSE was attacked, and no heads rolled for that. But they fired 3 Generals for the May 9th incident

We need to first confirm if the terrorists were local people or came from Afghanistan, if they were local then where is ISI and our security forces, if from Afghanistan then where is our border security. It's easy to blame the locals but it's our security services job to sort this mess out.

The government needs to educate the people but instead are busy looting. The terrorists exploits people grievances.
