The BYD factory was being built before and Turkey gave tax breaks, but then BYD pulled out after the Chinese govt told them to stop(It wasn't Turkey specific), then they got a deal to build in Hungary so they never resumed work again. So all those tax breaks were for nothing.

It is business decision.
Türkiye’s biggest advantages are its lower costs compared with the EU, and its customs union with the EU.
However, the EU begins to draw a clear distinction between “Made in the EU” and “Made in Türkiye,” Türkiye’s value as a manufacturing gateway to Europe for Chinese automakers will decline significantly.
The EU and Türkiye are competing to attract the relocation of China’s electric-vehicle technology and industrial supply chain. Meanwhile, the Turkish government is acting very hypocritically, stoking nationalist sentiment among the Turkish public to divert attention from the real underlying conflict.

The battery accounts for more than 45% of the cost of a Togg vehicle. Add in all the other Chinese-made components, and Chinese content makes up more than 50% of the vehicle. So, in essence, isn’t it basically a Chinese car?

Just as smartphones replaced Nokia, electric vehicles will eventually replace gasoline-powered cars.
I hope the Turkish government will stop misleading its people and truly seize this opportunity to benefit from the transfer of Chinese industrial technology.

over 60% of the C919’s components and technologies are Chinese, while the U.S. ranks second at around 20%. How can that possibly be compared with TOGG?
For the C919’s engine supply, the United States, the United Kingdom, , ,Russia and chinese suppliers were all competing, and China ultimately chose to cooperate with the United States. By contrast, when it comes to TOGG’s battery technology, Türkiye has no viable alternative than China.
Stop fooling yourself. It only makes people lose respect for turkey.
