Trump says one officer shot at DC dinner, suspect in custody

On July 13, 2024, a shooter attacked Trump from a distance of 180 meters to 275 meters.

I am shocked that the level of security for the President of the United States is so poor, especially in a country where gun ownership is legal.
The assassination attempt in Butler, PA was from a distance of 130-150 yards max. I can do that all day long without thinking twice about.

It was admitted later that the detail Trump had at the Butler rally were not regular SS protective detail agents. The chief of the SS stepped down from her position as a result of her failure to provide a proper protective detail. Not to mention there were security lapses everywhere. I looked at an aerial for the area. There were any number of hides that a decent marksman could have used. That were not covered by the SS or local LE.

We also have freedom of speech, which is equally protected by law.
Yeah...Sure you do...

This American was not using a tone of discussion, nor was he even criticizing. He was directly accusing or even attacking. This is similar to the current situation in the United States.
The point of the 'freedom of speech' is that it is broad in intent. Except for narrow circumstances. If someone's tone in response is unrelated to your point, move on to someone else. Amazing, is it not?

Since taking office, Trump has repeatedly accused and even attacked President Biden. Is this also an American habit?
Yes. I am critical of Biden. Does that bother you?

I do not think everything President Biden has done is wrong. President Biden began his political career in 1970 and has extensive political experience. Trump’s political experience is only 5 years: 4 years as the 45th president and 1 year as the 47th president.
Joe Biden WILL go down as the worst president in US history. And before you say anything, everyone in this forum know I do not like Donald Trump.

No wonder American negotiations can only succeed with countries or organizations where the U.S. military is stationed. America hopes to achieve unequal treaties from a position of superiority, even in a discussion on a forum.
So how are Americans debate in a position of 'superiority' in this forum?

King Charles might want to reconsider his trip to the US 😊.

Some really good drills by the secret service. Saw that CCTV footage, wild.

Not really, this attack was at a hotel and the state visit will be at the white house. Also the security arrangements for the Charles' visit will be top notch.

FYI this was not a security failure. Although some would like to paint it as such.

Breaching an outer codon is not a security failure as there are many layers of security around POTUS.

Nah mate, this is a very major security breach. At less than 50 yards, that's right in the center of the kill zone. At that range, you have several different options. Again, this dude is just stupid and tries to run a pass. He would have done more damage if he had had a couple of Molotov cocktails and thrown a couple of those inside. You don't need a gun to create a Mass Cal Event. That's easy AF to make, let alone a suicide bomb vest, a car bomb, or even a gas attack.

Modern Protection Concept expanded the perimeters to 200 plus yards, that is the outer cordon, that give you reaction time. If there is a roadblock 200 yards away and he runs past that, that is not a security breach, not when you are 1 room and 50 yards from the president, the fact that he was unchecked at that point is already a major breach. That should have been an exclusion zone; you know who those people were outside the room, and have double or even triple checked them already, so the chance of some rando coming inside with a few firearms should be virtually zero.

And that is before I hatch into the reaction times........20 seconds to have physical intervention with the President, and 10 seconds without anything.........That's, by any mean, not acceptable...

Don’t wish to be rude to our American friends on here. The “suspect” just ran through security like a bloke that’s gotta pee bad and was able to go thru security nearly unimpeded? How he know who and what to avoid? Any basic nightclub with bouncers could’ve a done a better job of security.

It's easy to criticize. Hindsight is a beautiful thing. I stand by my statement - the president was never under any danger.

It’s mind boggling. American security forces can shutdown whole city blocks when the president vists towns but a hotel is too hard to secure?
