I accurately predicted when the tariff war broke out between the U.S. and China in April that Trump would attack Iran this June, and I also accurately predicted that Trump would force the Gulf States to allow Middle Eastern capital to take over trillions of dollars of U.S. Treasuries maturing in June through countries like Luxembourg. I also predicted that oil prices would soar. You can see for yourself my analysis at the time.

If he doesn't agree, then the option of putting outbound tax on those goods should be exercised. Then it will be a waiting game of how long Trump can take te pain and public backlash of extremely high prices. China on the other hand, I don't think will have to endure too much pain.

Trump's bottom line is a 20% tariff.

The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) told Donald Trump’s government that the completion of the sale of nickel plants in Brazil to MMG, a subsidiary of the Chinese state-owned China Minmetals Corporation, would give the Chinese "direct influence" over a large portion of international reserves and heighten "vulnerabilities in the supply chain for this critical mineral."

The association also urged the U.S. government to raise with the Brazilian administration its concerns regarding the completion of the acquisition and the risks of concentration of market control.

"It is essential that the Government of Brazil explore alternatives that preserve market-oriented ownership of these strategic nickel assets and ensure that future access to this critical mineral remains open and fair," the institute said in a letter addressed to the USTR (Office of the U.S. Trade Representative).

"If [the sale] succeeds, China will gain direct influence over a substantial portion of Brazil’s nickel reserves, in addition to its dominant position in Indonesia’s production, worsening the existing vulnerabilities in the supply chain for this critical mineral," the AISI argued.

This is the second time Trump has lost on this issue after losing in the specialised court for trade matters. Tariffs allowed to stay in place till October to allow appeal in SCOTUS. If Trump loses again, all those countries who made trade concessions are going to look like idiots.

Even Canada had imposed reciprocal tariffs. The India situation is still playing out, but the punitive tariffs would not have been imposed if they had surrendered like most other countries.

Even in the US, the opulent minority, like Elon Musk, mostly think his policies are stupid. The elite enrichment is happening through other forms of corruption, but the trade policy is just plain stupidity that hurts everyone and benefits no one. Ironically, the ones who support it the most are the white trash MAGA idiots who will get hurt the most when stagflation hits.
