This is going to be a slow fight, right now the first priority is getting sanctions removed off syria, some are still going to be there until the end of the year and maybe it takes a couple more years.
From the Syrian perspective, they just have to keep their head down and rebuild as fast as possible, and avoid a conflict, because the long term trajectory favors them. Israel from its perspective is itching for a fight and would rather have a fight sooner rather than later, while it still has the advantage. They have thus far failed in isolating Syria and stopped those sanctions from being lifted. If Syria can keep that momentum, the Syrians would likely be on more favorable terms long term.
