Why would Russians leave?

They can still retain influence even if Assad is gone and their main reason to be there was the warm water port at Tartus.

It is not like HTS can force them out.

By having a naval and air base in Syria they remain an important player in the region and now they do not even have to try to prop up Assad!

Assumption is that HTS asked them to leave? ( was basing my comments off the twitter article). Agree - if Russians can hold onto that base, they will for sure.

Well if HTS asked them to leave, what logic is that from Syrian "nationalists" and "freedom fighters"?

Both bases will be destroyed within 24 hours by the Zionist entity.

If they care for Syria as they say, then the best option is to agree with Russia rolling 5 year leases.
 
Russia has a lease on land for 70 years
Not a month to month renewal deal , it is a 70 year ownership

  • Naval Base
  • Airforce Base

As Syrian interm government took charge , the State of Syria resumes their operation , and all Lease agreements are fully valid

Golan Height Agreement was part of Egypt-Syria , agreement with Israel, Israel can't just annul agreements at will and take over land

As Egypt was 100% functional , even if Syria was temporarily disrupted however it is back operational so all agreements for Golan Height are also functional , Breaking Golan Heights agreement mean Israel is not respecting Egypt

Neither Turks nor Europeans or Americans are interested in Russia keeping those bases.

Also, after what they did to Syrian civilians, the atrocities ccommited in Idlib, there're millions in Syria who're willing to kill any Russian they see on the spot. Moscow must go.

  • I do sympathize with Turkish folks they housed million Syrian refugees living in Tents etc difficult condition
  • Resolving the problem in Syria is in their interest

My personal view is Turkey Inherits the Syrian lands and takes up Kifalat and Protection of Syrian and grants them Turkish citizenship

I have no issue with that thing, Turkey is a Role model nation

Option A : Israel Bombs, rebels watch from far. Become new gaza /west bank

Option B : Syria Joins Turkey as a new state , Russia stays as is

Option C : Syrian Civil war keep going no end , refugee flee again


All the best to Erdogan an Turkey in this difficult task

Thousands of Syrians fell victim to indiscriminate Russian carpet bombing. That agreement you're talking about is now waste paper.

Besides, why should Turkey tolerate Russian military bases on her southern border? Would you tolerate Indian military bases on your western border?

Turkey and Russia , decision on Russian Navy and Air base will have to get analyzed by the experts on their respective country

As Turkey is joining BRICS don't see an issue

Russia already has border close to Turkey up north a few new bases won't harm Turkey

Specially if Turkey liberates Syria as they are doing that already

Good luck to Turkey on managing this difficult obligation
