Dude,don't smoke that thing

Turkey on the verge of bankruptcy just 2 years ago, right now we have big spending on bigger aircraft carrier, masses of F-35,F-16Vs,Eurofighter,loads of missiles and all that on top of the dozens of Turkish defence programs. Having MMM-E going around as if all that is peanuts,is amusing.

There were elections in Türkiye 2 years ago and You believed too much in every perception and lie made by CHP and FETO

Türkiye's economy has been growing for 19 consecutive quarters since 2021
Turkiye's GDP has risen to $1,118 trillion from $907 billion between 2022 and 2023
and from $1,118 trillion to $1,437 trillion between 2023 and 2025

Turkiye's GDP has risen to $1,437 trillion from $819 billion between 2021 and 2025
( Even though the Dollar exchange rate increased from 7 TL to 40 TL )

and Türkiye's total gross reserves hit record $178 billion as of sep 2025

President ERDOGAN spent over $100 billion for humanitarian aid to muslim Countries .....We would buy Israeli+Hellenic+Egyptian Air Forces combined for $100 billion

Turkiye has enough money
We cannot get Fighter Jets because of the unfair embargoes imposed on Turkiye by USA and Germany

Turkiye has bigger economy than Greece+Israel+Egypt+$240 billion combined.lol

Thanks to its solid-fuel Ramjet engine, GÖKBORA will provide high speed and accuracy at a range of over 185 km

This missile, which will be the main air-to-air weapon for KAAN and KIZILELMA, will fit into internal weapon bays, maintaining its stealth capability

With its AESA Radar and network-centric warfare capability, it will give Turkiye a significant air superiority in modern air combat.

GOKBORA's ramjet engines have been fired and testing is almost complete.

What is the longest range BVR currently operational in Turkish air force ?

Is it still AMRAAM 120C ?

Am talking about present.

120 km AIM-120C7

but 240-380 km S400 ( 48N6E3 and 40N6E air defense missiles ) can give tactical advantage to Turkiye against the RAFALEs

American F-18s armed with the AIM-174B ( SM-6 ) ait to air Missile with range of 240+ km

It would be great if Turkish F-16s used a variant of the SIPER Missile with range of 250+ km

SIPER Missile has network centric warfare capability via Link-16 datalink
Boeing E-7T AEWC can detect a F-16V or RAFALE from 300+ km away and İt can guide SIPER Missile to hit the F-16V and RAFALE from 200-250 km

Turkey pursuing the UK tender for Advanced trainers, offering Hurjet.

Would that missile fit on F-16 though? might be a bit big.

Also 145 HÜRJETs proposed for the US Navy

That one is likely not going to happen, as Boeing and the other MIC will throw a fit if a foreign manufacturer gets the bid. As they already built a trainer for the competition, usually what happens is the Air Force holds a competition, and then the winner gets the USAF contract and then the loser gets the US Navy contract. So likely it will be this thing, or a variant of the T-7 from Boeing.

UK is in a unique position, b/c there is no BAE plane prototype, so the Hurjet has a better chance of getting the tender, possibly in a TAI/BAE joint bid, where TAI provides the plane, but BAE the avionics for the British version.

Yes might be a bit big ...SIPER missile is with length of 6,3 m

If I remember correctly, Israeli F-16s tested the 6.5 m long Blue Sparrow air launched Ballistic Missile.

btw what about 600 gallon drop tank with length of 6,6 m ?

The Israelis usually use the F-15 to fire the Air Launched Ballistic missiles.

I don't think its worth making a AIM-174 equivalent to be honest, the UN Navy only did it b/c the AIM-260 wasn't ready and they needed a stopgap against the PL-15s on the Chinese aircraft, and something to neutralize AWACS and other platforms, that missile isn't the best against other fighter jets that are more maneuverable. It can be done out of necessity, but I think Turkey is better off building something like the AIM-260.

Turkish Missiles with Ramjet and AESA RF seeker something like Chinese PL-21

Russia also develops 185+ km R-77M air to air missile with AESA seeker to be carried in the internal weapons bay of the SU-57

RAMJET powered Air to Air Missiles in NATO
-- 200 km METEOR (France, UK, Italy, Germany, Spain, Sweden)
-- 185+ km GOKBORA ( Turkiye ) ... under development
-- 200 km GOKHAN ( Turkiye ) ... under development

-- 200 km AIM-260 ( USA ) ... under development
No Ramjet
No AESA RF seeker

----------------------------------

Very long range Air to Air Missiles
240+ km American AIM-174B and 300+ km Russian R-37 are deadly missiles to shoot down even AWACS

Chinese PL-21 also coming with range of 300 km

We could launch the SIPER missile from the air with an engagement capability of 250+ km ... ( similar concept to American SM-6 ( AIM-174B ) missile

Another important factor here is stealth platform
RAFALE armed with 200 km METEOR air to air Missile
but Turkish KAAN with much lower RCS easly to shoot down RAFALE with even 100+ km GOKDOGAN air to air Missile
1758432077473.jpeg

I prefer KAAN with 100 km GOKDOGAN air to air missile instead of F-18E with 240+ km AIM-174B

Head to head engagement range
KAAN : 175 km ( MURAD-600 AESA Radar 175 km @ 1 m2 )
RAFALE : 38 km

F-18E ( AN-APG/79 Radar 140 km @ 1 m2 )
RAFALE ( RBE2 AA AESA Radar 120 km @ 1 m2 )

RAFALE and F-15EX , F-16V , F-18E Pilots are shot down before they see the KAAN on their Radars

BAe has nothing on the table for sure, Aeralis (https://aeralis.com/) is an unknown right now but there is the Italian trainers M-346 which i suspect will have more of a chance given that Italy is part of GCAP and there is always give and take in these scenarios.

Yes, but a BAE/TAI bid where the Brits are able to customize the avionics to their liking is more advantageous, it can even be offered as an EJ200 engined variant. That way you are offsetting your purchases by production from your own domestic industry. The Italians cannot offer something similar. Turkey already beat the M-346 in the Spanish bid. It makes all the sense in the world IMO, the only reason I think it comes up short is as the tweet says, it being a political decision.
