Turkish Air Force | News & Discussions

This is Türkiye's true independence ( KAAN )

If we had the domestic engine now or more 80 American F-110 engines , then we could produce 40 units of KAAN until 2030 which is already better than all 4.5 gen Fighter Jets F-16V , F-15EX , RAFALE , Eurofighter , SU-35 , J10C

The future of the Turkish Air Force is in safe hands

-- KAAN
-- HURJET
-- KIZILELMA
-- ANKA-3/4
-- Eurofighter T3A / T4 ... also T-5 on agenda
-- F-16 OZGUR-2 ( block 70 standard )
-- also F-16V and F-35A still on agenda

And why can’t turkey wait those few years ?

Kinematic Performance ? It doesnt need for BVR combat
I mentioned the pilots' habits. The Kaan and EF's agility behavior would be more similar compared to the F-16. Otherwise, of course, the BWR-style combat would apply.

And why can’t turkey wait those few years ?
Israel? Russia? Greece?

Regarding the price tag, I am not worried tbh. Turkey is well-known to order very large quantities of ammunition and spare parts in advance for obvious reasons...

And why can’t turkey wait those few years ?

Because of increasing threats in the region

all the Countries in the region are frantically arming themselves.

Greece : 84 F-16V modernization , 24 RAFALE and 20 F-35A on order
Iran : 48 SU-35 also maybe J-10Cs from China
Egypt : 54 RAFALE , 48 MIG-29M2 .. also F-15 or Eurofighter or J-10C

Also France appears as a rival in Libya and the Eastern Mediterranean
and on the other side , crazy bear Russia

Air forces play the most critical role in protecting a country's vital interests.
Turkish Air Force always should be deterrent

before 5.7, according to most of the 3rd party evaluation, rafale is better than typhoon.

Even they take rafale as the most advanced aircraft except the 5th Generation aircraft.

for avionics, radar and air fighter engine, Europe is far more behind usa and China.
Weather rafale or typhoon, it is just sitting duck when confronted with frontline aircraft of USA or China.

Israel? Russia? Greece?
It's very contradicting though,if you think about it.

Russia is a partner of Turkey in several aspects. Turkey has been one of the very few NATO members actually friendly to Russia. Putin relies on Turkey for several deals.

Greece is,like many of you(and your goverment since 2020)say...easy to destroy, not in the same league as Turkey,5 hours in Athens etc.

Israel,if you fight with Israel, you'll be fighting with the Americans. And that's already a loss. Who in Europe(from the ones providing the Eurofighter)would choose Turkey over USA and Israel?

I understand the mentality from a patriotic point of view, but on the other hand,it contradicts the geopolitical realities and the narrative of certain individuals that Turkey is already unbeatable due to a very long list of weapons, equipment, projects etc.

The only actual reason to want to rush to replenish your Air Force,I think would be Israel and that only in case the Israelis decide to pick a fight with you,in which you'd have to defend.

On the rest I'm with @Merzifonlu he explained everything pretty darn well.

I have always maintained that all three euro canards it Typhoon gripens Rafale and indeed j10 remain latest blocks of Falcons and eagles will remain crucial long term combat element of the top air forces in the world

So those spouting nonsense of we have all fifth and sixth generation fleet by the time bla bla bla happens are talking nonsense a d they know it

Kaan will arrive but not until 2035 in any relevant numbers

Even then it will all.most certainly be tip of the spear IE two or three Squadrons until 2045 ,only

The operational cost to buy and maintain these fifth generation fighters is prohibited for 99% of the air forces

Turkey will eventually acquire about 60 Typhoons over next decade about 120 modernised Falcons and eventually 40+ Kaan by 2040

Drones unmanned wing men will become more apparent

I do believe there will be some help for engine in this deal.

1 -- Turkiye and Israel can not fight directly ... USA always will block it

USA-The UK-France-Germany helped Israel to attack Iran
but Turkiye is a NATO member and Israel alone can not fight Turkiye

Türkiye - Qatar - Egypt and USA signed an agreement to stop the conflict in GAZA and as long as Israel remains calm, there will never be a war.

The Greater Israel dream is a threat to all countries in the region
( Syria , Iraq , Turkiye , Iran , Egypt , Jordan , S.Arabia )

-----------------------------

2 -- Greece and France together real threat to Turkiye in the Eastern Mediterranean and Cyprus

We almost fought Greece-France in 2020
Greeks are waiting for green light from their Masters USA-France to fight Turkiye as like in 1919-1922 period

Greeks have small power but big dreams
The moment they think Turkiye is weak, they will want to attack on Turkiye together with their Masters

Israel also wants to use Greece as a proxy against Turkiye

-------------------------------

3 -- Russia - Iran is a threat to Turkiye over Syria and Azerbaijan

even We almost fought Russia-Iran over Idlib in 2020

Russia can not attack Türkiye directly, but our interests clash through Syria, Libya and Azerbaijan.

Iran, on the other hand, always hides behind Russia and works against Türkiye in line with its own interests in Syria and Azerbaijan

The UK does not have a large thrust engine. Its best engine is the EJ200, which only produces 90kN thrust.

All fifth-generation fighters' engines, such as the F-35's F135, the F-22's F119, the J-20's WS-15, and the Su-57's AL-41F1, are high-thrust. If the KAAN uses two EJ200 medium-thrust engines, its thrust can be referred to the EF-2000, and the thrustto-weight ratio will be worse than the EF-2000.

btw:
The threshold for a high thrust engine is 140kN.

All high thrust engines worldwide:

USA: F135 191kN (F-35)

China: WS-15 181kN (J-20)

RUS: AL-41F1 177kN (Su-57)

USA: F119 156kN (F-22)

USA: F110 142kN (F-16C/D F-15E)

China: WS-10C 141kN (J-10C)

If Turkey is willing to buy 4G fighter jets at a price of 400 million pounds each, which will be delivered in the 2030s, this shows that the Turks are not too confident about the KAAN project.

What happened to KAAN?

They don’t have engines.

There is also an issue. If Turkey is willing to buy 4G fighter jets at a price of 400 million pounds each, then at what will Turkey sell 5G fighter jets?
