Turkish exports to Syria rose 20% in December and jumped by more than 38% in January, Turkish Exporters Assembly data show.
Turkish machinery exports there soared 244% last month, while cement, glass and ceramics jumped 92% and metals rose 73%. Fruit and vegetable exports also more than tripled.
Türkiye's exports to its neighboring countries, including Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Greece, reached a record $34.2 billion in 2024, marking a 7.4% increase from the previous year. Iraq was the largest recipient, accounting for nearly a third of the exports. Notable growth was seen in exports to Bulgaria (21.9%) and Greece (15.5%). Overall, Türkiye's total exports in 2024 hit $262 billion, with significant increases in shipments of mineral fuels, machinery, and electrical devices. The only decrease occurred in exports to Iran, which fell by 0.5%.
