Turkey expands its modular wall system on the Iranian border
While the 235 km of this planned 305-kilometer project, which has been planned since 2021, has been successfully completed, feverish work is underway for the last 70-kilometer line in the Başkale region, which has harsh geographical conditions.

Turkey continues to expand its modular wall system on the border with Iran to maximize security on its eastern borders, to reduce illegal migration, smuggling activities and terrorist crossings to zero. Since 2021, the 235 km of this 305-kilometer large project, which has been planned since 2021, has been successfully completed, while feverish work is ongoing for the last 70km line in the Başkale region, which has difficult geographical conditions.
Acting with the vision of "impassableness" in border security, the security forces also integrated modern land monitoring systems in the mountainous terrain in Başkale district of Van and finished the construction of another 6-kilometer strategic section.
5 Meters Concrete Blocks and Barbed Wires to the Border
The firewall project is not only a physical obstacle. The huge modular blocks placed on the border are 5 meters in height. In order to make it completely impossible to cross the wall, concrete blocks are also drawn with high strength razor and barbed wire fences with a height of 90 centimeters.
Digital Army on Border Line: UAVs and Autonomous Vehicles In Operation
The physical wall is fortified with the latest technological possibilities in the inventory of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK). Border troops monitor the border line not only from land, but also digital systems day and night. The details of the security concept carried out in the region are as follows:
24/7 Tracking from the Air and Land : Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and remote-controlled autonomous land vehicles are scanned instantly.
Anti-Drone Protection: In addition to military armored vehicles deployed in the region, anti-unmanned aerial vehicles that protect airspace against illegal UAV threats are actively involved.
Special Troops are on alert: Special sniper teams and Special Forces units are deployed to blind spots and critical transit routes against possible infiltration attempts on the border line.
This integrated border management system, which combines technology and physical obstacles in Turkey, minimizes illegal mobility in the region and opens the door to a new era in border security.
