Turkish Foreign Policy and Regional Geopolitics

Something is going on in germany...

Idk what it is, but there seems to be some friction in the Franco-German partnership Post 1945. Germany usually was the one who would talk collaboration, but lately both of them have been going separate ways, and they don't trust coproduction. Coupled this with the Germans doing possibly the biggest military buildup since WW2, it seems Germans are expecting a war in Europe.

I think it is more a function of the "friction" of the respective companies involved wanting to maintain intellectual property rights and manufacturing capabilities than issues at a political/strategic level. None of the companies involved wants to give up real economic or intellectual property to companies that they have seen as "competitors" previously.

Some habits die hard.

But its a codevopment, like AIRBUS. And a merging of common platforms. The fact that they are walking away from it does suggest political friction and uncertainty in the relationship. The post 1945 consensus is unraveling in more ways than one. The environment that started with the Schuman Declaration and the Treaty of Paris and the worldview that produced it may not be long for the world, for all we know.

I don't think we should read to much into things right now, time will tell. I think there have been enough co-development disasters in Europe already to know this theatrical act is more about money and control than anything else. Typhoon development is one example, and the Jaguar, and Concorde are others etc.
