As of January 2025, there were around 2.5 million retirees in Greece, including those receiving disability pensions. The majority of retirees are over 71 years old.

---

Pensioners are accounting for ¼ of the Greek population. They don't even have the manpower to afford a war against Türkiye at this point.

That’s a big problem not alone in Greece but whole Europe.

No kids, no marriages, and the youth is been killed by immigrants and homosexuality.

Poland is the only European country with a good fertility.

China has the same problem: no babies, no marriages, a lot of old people.

Poland's fertility Rate is lower than Germany's figure.

The population crisis is much worse is Poland than in Western Europe. The Polish even hire workers from Bangladesh.

lol

all ther people are in EU countries.... :p

Poland is literally one of the worst examples. lol, don't assume just b/c the Poles are xenophobic towards immigrants, that somehow their birth rates will be higher.

I never knew this. I always thought that the Poles made great families and a lot of kids because of ther catholicism.

Turkey and Iran should also made more kids like Iraq.

Nah its just LARP. Poland is just like every other European country just more xenophobic.

The Whole Trad Cath family with 12 children is a thing of the past in Europe atleast.

Bro, your assumptions were correct in the past but societal dynamics are wild. Today, Protestant and evangelical couples in the US are having more children compared to couples in other Christian and Catholic countries. Today, traditionally Catholic societies in Latin America are experiencing low birth rates. In fact, the birth rate situation in Chile is even more concerning than in South Korea now.

There have been some unfortunate setbacks in Central Asian policy recently. I don't know what the level of engagement with Kazakhstan has been but they have made steps detrimental to Turkish interests in exchange for EU investment.

good news, our neighbours have ordered with the money they have left 16 exocet missile for ther warships... :ROFLMAO:

I am not surprised at all.

They sold us for 12B Euros. The real question is whether they are simply taking advantage of the situation or if this marks a genuine shift in their foreign policy. What will their trading relationship with Europe look like? Selling them energy and goods? Via Russian land bridge? Chinese sea terminals? The whole thing doesn't make sense to me.
It appears like they really saw the money and went for it without thinking further.

Probably a legacy of Soviet-influenced scarcity mindset.

It's actually an order that was to take place in 2020 and 2022 with the delivery of the last Roussen class FAC.

Why didn't we send the refugees to Europe? For the money from Europe.

Central Asian countries should ignore the TRNC for investment from Europe.

We have betrayed even our own country, we are not in a position to criticize the countries of Central Asia.

I don't get it,you guys are mad about our Chief of Staff saying Turkey is still a threat(when you threaten someone, you're a threat)and that if we are challenged,we could react in 5 mins.

The man didn't say anything aggressive. He only said that if we're attacked,we'll reply.

In the past, there have been numerous statements by Turkish officials claiming the Turkish forces can take Thessaloniki or Athens in 5 hours.

Then, you get upset about us buying 16 Exocet missiles and possibly a 4th FDI frigate. Your media talks about this as if it's some provocation, some act of war. You talk as if Greece is planning an invasion with a 4th frigate, while Turkey has been producing weapons like crazy.

And the problem is,you're getting back on the old Erdogan rhetoric. Now you claim Kastelorizo as "Turkish". Guys, get it together.

Neither the Russian land bridge, nor China or even Iranian routes are viable for them to trade with Europe. They will have to use the middle corridor b/c Europe does not trust Russia.

Turkey and Azerbaijan can squeeze them together to bring them in line as retaliation, but idk if thats the right play to make.

This really should be handled more with Carrots than sticks.

Its incredibly unfortunate that they made this move, but I suspect its less them and more to do with the EU via Greece, Cyprus, France making relations with the EU conditional on the matter, and they seem to have chosen money over solidarity.

There is no real repercussion internally for them b/c they are all post soviet dictatorship and the people are largely apathetic.

I think the real failure here is lack of engagement with Turkey. And not enough engagement being pushed by the Turkish side, or perhaps they are adverse to Turkish influence in Central Asia, but thats probably not the case.

I noticed things were off when they sent a low level delegation to the Antalya Diplomacy forum, even Russia sent Lavrov, I'd understand maybe if they didn't send a head of state since they are usually busy, but not even sending a foreign minister was strange.

I think there is just not enough engagement on the part of Turkey here. No stronger defense engagement nor economic. They are more integrated with China and Russia than they are with Turkey, and those are bigger markets so i understand but the defense independence angle should have been pushed harder, and moving relations to strategic partnership. b/c as of right now, they don't give Turkey any significance, to the point where they think twice about doing things to the detriment of Turkey or care to deepen relations. They seem to be more shrewd and value economics rather than any cultural and brotherly attachment.

Thought on the bright side, this doesn't really change anything tangibly for Turkey on Cyprus, its not like even if they didn't take a stance, they would assist Turkey is Cyprus anyways, so this is more a symbolic loss than anything tangible etc.
