Turkish Missile Programs

They genuinely want to acquire Turkish missiles. Why, though? Why not French or British?

I doubt its cruise missiles, as they have Taurus, its likely ballistic.

No one is Europe has MRBMs infact outside of ATACMs from the US, no one has Ballistic missiles. They might not want a US solution regardless.

French and British only have SLBM for their ballisitic missiles, this doesn't work for Germans, as they neither have SSBNs nor Nukes.

I think Turkey should sell Germany the SLBMs and MRBMs, because if Turkey doesn't, they will buy from South Korea regardless. And if its Turkey, this undermines Greece's and even French position inside EU.

No one in Europe has Turkey's mass manufacturing capacity, in terms of cheap labour, massive workforce and domestic supply chains, in wartime, this is crucial and indispensable. The German manufacturing sector is rapidly degrading since the Russia Ukraine war due to various factors, including energy costs and Labor

Taurus is expensive and air launched and i think currently not in production(i could be wrong). Taurus also lacks deep strike capability with its 500km range. Kara atmaca could offer a cheaper alternative and gezgin a range upgrade and since our airforce will get its own gezgin variant it could also be integrated into eurofighter with a range above 1000km+. Maybe even for their submarines.

The Germans are looking for an alternative to the Tomahawk they might be interested in Gezgin.

Maybe, but I doubt they would pick Turkey over France, b/c of Politics.

The Ballistic Missiles though, there is no Alternative to Turkey, except South Korea.

Turkiye's Ballistic Missile Power ... ( the best in NATO after USA )

150 km J600T can cover Islands in the Aegean
360-560 km BORA and TAYFUN B1/2 can cover Greece
560-1.000+ km TAYFUN B1/2' and TAYFUN B4 can cover Israel
2.000+ km CENK can cover Iran
6.000 km YILDIRIMHAN can cover India

Also , NATO countries like France, which has a hostile attitude towards Turkiye, is also within range, and it is almost impossible for France, which has 18 nuclear power plants with 57 reactors, to stop a hypersonic ICBM like YILDIRIMHAN ( speed of mach 25 - mach 9 during terminal phase )

The Ministry of National Defense R&D department also attracted widespread attention in the world press last year by introducing the thermobaric bomb named "Gazap" at the IDEF 2025 exhibition

YILDIRIMHAN ICBM can carry 3.000 kg warhead ( 3 x GAZAP thermobaric Bombs )

Gazap’s thermobaric blast reaches 5,432°F (3,000°C) delivering near-nuclear level destruction without crossing the nuclear threshold

But doesn't MTCR 290 km limit apply here ? Even China and Russia tend to follow it largely.

MTCR is only relevant in transfer to non MTCR countries. between MTCR countries, you are allowed to transfer.

But regardless, its meaningless, there is no binding legal framework, it works more as guidelines.

Inside Türkiye's Yildirimhan ICBM program

The intercontinental hypersonic ballistic missile

Nilufer Kuzulu, the head of the Turkish Ministry of National Defense's (MoND) R&D center and the lead developer of Türkiye's first intercontinental ballistic missile, revealed key details about the Yildirimhan program in a live interview on Turkish media outlet NTV at SAHA 2026.

She disclosed that serial production of rocket fuel has been completed, that a dedicated production facility now exists, and that the ministry has been developing hypersonic systems for approximately 10 years.

"We had completed our work on rocket motors last year. Now, having completed it together with the body and fuel, we have come to launch our product," Kuzulu said during the live broadcast.

She described the Yildirimhan as "the most important indicator of Türkiye's vision."

Kuzulu confirmed the ministry has been working on hypersonic systems for approximately 10 years.

"We have a fuel and a facility for which we have completed serial production. We have our rocket fuel, we have our warhead," she noted.

Fuel was not domestically produced, until now

On the propellant system, Kuzulu disclosed that the fuel used by Yildirimhan was not previously produced in Türkiye, but that the ministry had now achieved domestic serial production capability.

She did not specify the exact propellant composition in the interview, though the Yildirimhan's technical specification panel at SAHA 2026 listed nitrogen tetroxide, which serves as the oxidizer in the system, used in combination with hydrazine-derivative fuels.

Jet engine also displayed at SAHA

Kuzulu also addressed a jet engine being displayed by the ministry at SAHA 2026 alongside the Yildirimhan.

She said that while the engine resembles others in external dimensions, "the compressors used inside it are technically very different."

She added that the ministry is conducting parallel work on jet and helicopter engines alongside its missile motor development programs.

According to the promotional brochures published by the Turkish Ministry of National Defense's R&D center, the Guchan Turbofan Jet Engine is "a high-thrust jet engine whose components were all developed by the Ministry of National Defense R&D Center and produced entirely with domestic resources."

The Guchan turbofan jet engine's technical specifications are:

  • Thrust: 42,000 lbf
  • Max Diameter: 46,5 in
  • Airflow: 420 lb/s
  • Bypass ratio: 0.68:1
According to the promotional brochures published by the Turkish Ministry of National Defense's R&D center, the Onur turboshaft helicopter engine is "a significant project developed by the Ministry of National Defense (MSB) R&D Center. It represents a major step toward technological independence in Türkiye's defense sector, focusing on creating a fully indigenous turbine engine."

The Onur turboshaft helicopter engine's technical specifications are:

  • Power: 1550 hp
  • Output Shaft Speed: 7000 rpm
  • Type: Turboshaft
  • Pressure Ratio: 7.4
  • Weight: 310 kg

Yildirimhan ballistic missile's specifications

As disclosed at SAHA 2026 by the Defense Ministry R&D Center, Yildirimhan has a range of 6,000 kilometers, a speed range of Mach 9 to Mach 25, four liquid-fuel rocket engines, a 3,000-kilogram explosive payload and a takeoff weight consistent with the intercontinental class.

The system's combination of hypersonic speed and maneuverability is designed to defeat existing air and missile defense systems by narrowing the adversary's early-warning and interception window.

Nilufar Kozulu, Director of the Research and Development Center at the Ministry of National Defense, told the Turker Akinji news website the following regarding this topic:

“For almost ten years, we have conducted numerous studies on the parts of this missile, component by component, including its design, qualification and certification. Finally, after the most difficult phase has been successfully completed - the mass production and storage of fuel - all that remains is assembly.

We have previously tested, obtained approval, performed inspections, and completed qualification of our rocket engines.

This missile contains much more filling material than the GAZAB bomb, about three tons. Therefore, it will have a huge impact.

Its speed is Mach 9 inside the atmosphere and Mach 25 outside it. “We will use exclusively uranium-dimethyl hydrochloride (UDMH) and nitrogen tetroxide fuel.”

Germany interest in 1.600 km TOMAHAWK Cruise Missile with TYPHON Launcher Systems
1779161412817.png

-- French MdCN Cruise Missile is naval only
-- Turkish GEZGIN Cruise Missile will be launched from ground Platforms too and alternative to American TYPHON Systems ( with TOMAHAWK Missile )

ARAT turbojet Engine will be in mass production by 2027 to power the GEZGIN long range Cruise Missile

If Germany can not acquire the 1600 km range TOMAHAWK Missile, it has begun to consider the 1500 km TAYFUN Block 4 hypersonic Ballistic Missile as an alternative strike power

There is no alternative in Europe ( only Turkiye with TAYFUN B4 and GEZGIN Missiles )

in NATO
USA : TOMAHAWK Cruise Missile and DARK EAGLE Ballistic Missile
Turkiye : GEZGIN Cruise Missile and TAYFUN B4 - CENK Ballistic Missiles

Türkiye can fill the deep strike capability gap in Europe

Karaok ATGM, with a 4km range is a must have weapon systems.. although heavier FPV drones have taken portion of ATGMs intended roles but majority of them are unable to completely destroy a tank or command vehicles.

Even the mere shadow of a missile is sometimes enough to make the others think twice before taking any unlawful actions against Turkiye.

The treaties explicitly prohibit the arming of the mentioned islands against Turkiye. Either comply with the terms of the agreement, or don’t complain when Turkiye takes the necessary action
