Why are you guys suddenly fighting? we all remember both Turkiye and Azerbaijan being best buddies before.
No issue with Azerbaijan. Issue is with Aliyev. He randomly started distancing, and now his media is attacking Turkey. The Turkish govt hasn't said a thing, so its completely one sided. I think this is all his scheme, he doesn't want to be under Turkey's "sphere of influence", so he is expanding relations with Israel and downplaying Turkiye.
He should be careful, if he keeps escalating, Turkey isn't going to carry on with this one sided "brotherhood", and will begin to look at things from its own interests.
All this time we have deferred to them on Armenian policy, refusing to open the border unless Armenia signs a peace agreement with Azerbaijan. Turkey sent F-16s to deter Russia or Iran from intervening when Armenia and Azerbaijan were fighting. Turkey trained their military commandos in NATO tactics, and even sent a General to advise and command Azeri forces during the operation(Although Turkey has for obvious reasons not publicized this element), Turkey tipped them off that their previous Commanding General was a Russian spy, and he was removed b/c of that. Turkey provided the TB2s and the battle doctrine that helped them break through.
Now when its all said and done, Aliyev wants to play games. Loyalty and respect and solidarity is a two way street, Turkey has taken economic losses by not opening the border and selling and buying goods from Armenia, just for them, to protect their interests. Aliyev needs to stop his foolishness with his media attacking Turkey and blaming Turkey for his own people protesting against a policy he created that is creating tensions in his society.
