U.S. Ban of TikTok Is Set to Deal a Major Blow to ByteDance, Its Chinese Owner

Banning a Americanized Chinese app only to benefit another hardcore authentic Chinese app, can anything be more stupid than that?
US politicians are not known for being smart. They are where they are because their constituents are intellectually lazy and take the easy way out.

The major reason why India banned Tiktok is to foster India domestic similar apps. Unforturnately Indian companies are too incompetent. Now India short video market is occupied by US apps
Those short videos will be banned soon..It's a social epidemic destroying youth and children.

When you dont pay for the product, it means you're the product.

When you have a nice app with little or nothing advertising, and free to use, you must wonder why someone is giving that gift to you :ROFLMAO:

CEO of TikTok is extremely delusional. Fighting a losing battle in a country where the Zionists are in control of the narrative. Comes of as stubborn as Huawei hypothetically stubbornly trying to stay in the North American market. As stupid as that commander that went unarmed to negotiate with the Indians expecting if he comes in peace the Indians will too then got his head bashed!

Plus, even a single day of being offline, the service becomes unreliable in the eyes of potential advertisers. Who in the world wants to continue to advertise (or influence ppl) on platform that could get its plug pulled at any time?

If u don't get ur arse kicked out of America now, u will later. Why u want to lose billions of dollars out of a sale (sans algos becoz the CCP will NEVER let America have those algos) just for being dellusional and stubborn? If u don't want those billions then fine! BUT China can certainly build a whole fleet of CVNs with that money!

If the average American realized just how much data is collected by their other apps, TikTok would be amongst the least of their worries.
The banning of Tik Tok were NEVER about data privacy or national security, because

A.) Banning it alone won't solve the issue, you need law to protect data privacy, US is the ONLY G7 countries don't have such law.

B.) Even if Tik Tok sales its asset to an American company, they can, AND WILL still be getting those data and will be eligible to sell them to anyone who wants it. It changes nothing.

The reason to ban Tik Tok is a commercial one, not because of data privacy or national security. It's either Google is sick of the unfair competition (Google cannot operate in China losing out a chunk of revenue) or Zucks and Musk et el wanted to buy it.

As a general rule, I don't use social media at all, if you don't want to have your detail stolen or sold, don't use them

Google and meta can operate in China as long as they are willing to follow the law of the land. These companies refuse so they pulled out. TikTok was banned explicitly even though they were following the law.

So the reality is that China never banned US social media companies. As its widely accepted the west. The reality is that these companies refuse to obey Chinese laws so they do not operate there.

Bytedance need to stop trying to stay in the US market and over the long run it does not really matter as the US market is getting smaller with each passing year.

US and India can ban Tik-Tok and it can still regain being the world's No. 1 social media platform as growth in "Global South" will be repaid over the next 20-30 years as living standards catch up.

Good post but it is not just commercial but also it(Tik-Tok) does not censor things the US establishment does not like.

Most pressing example is highlighting of Gaza genocide.

Just try talking about breaking UN resolutions and what should be done in general on say ChatGPT/Gemini, and they will happily say UN should impose sanctions but as soon as you mention the Zionist entity, it stops talking anymore.

Ps - What unfair competition as Google can operate in China under Chinese laws?
Same as how Tik-Tok has to operate under US laws to operate in US.

Nah, if US government censor anything, channel like TYT or extremely popular Palestine channel like Fori Mozi would not ever existed.

US Government don't care about these issues, that's what I was saying, on the other hand, Tik Tok has been on the US list far longer than this war started Oct 7 in 2023. This is just a long line of work on fixing them.

Tik Tok continue to operate in US but refuse to establish a US base data center (Think their data center is in Singapore with Bytedance direct access) And they let them run til now. I mean when China demand Google to store their data in China they refuse and pack up, Tik Tok never conformed to the US advisory body to get their data center in the US. That's what unfair.

lol, they weren't complied to the US regulatory demand.

The original request from the US government is a physical data center in the US. What Tik Tok did was they have rented Oracle Cloud center in (I think Virginia) while the physical center is in Singapore and still maintain access from Byte Dance, well, since it is cloud, anyone authorised can access those data. China didn't ask for a cloud center for Google and Facebook to operate on in China, I believe Cloud wasn't even a thing when they "banned" Google and Facebook

Bear in mind it's ORACLE, not tik tok shutting their server in the US.....

They weren't using a dedicated server center in the US......

You can say China never banned US social media, then I can tell you US never ban Chinese social media too, they just ask them divest.
