You can make 7nm chips using DUV lithography but it has some serious drawbacks. DUV requires multiple patterning, which complicates the process, raises costs, and increases the chances of defects. It also leads to lower yields with fewer working chips per batch. Plus, DUV is reaching its limits, and you'll eventually need EUV, which China struggles to access due to export restrictions. It might be a big achievement, but DUV is less efficient and more costly in the long run. Not to mention, those DUV machines are imported from ASML, and no one knows how long their components will hold up.
I doubt it's 7 nm. They all lie about it. It's probably like 100 nm or so. The smallest chips these days is like 100 nm or so. Too small and it won't work.
