US 2026 Midterm Elections Thread

So again, some rando says 'reportedly' and that means it's factual?
Just $hitposts. Talarico has diabetes and it takes time for such people to recover from the flu.

I really hope Talarico can win against Paxton in Texas and El-Sayed wins against Rogers in Michigan. It would be a political earthquake and disorient so many lobbyists and pundits.

We need an active Congress that can put the brakes on throughly destructive and corrupt Trump admin.

I think this fell into the category of satire.

But, I get your point. Way too many people, including several notable suspects here, treat Twitter as if it is the Holy Gospel. Sad actually. Most are too lazy to look up legitimate sources.

That "active Congress" you aspire for exists only in your mind. Congress has gladly ceded its oversight responsibilities more and more since passage of the Patriot Act.

Now, any "oversight" they do is for soundbites and bukkake theater for their low information bases. In the meantime, they continue to Shawshank those same low information bases.

During the National Day holiday, my friends and I discussed a very meaningful topic at a gathering. Suppose you are a conglomerate that has created a large number of jobs. Could you influence the government?
The question you even need to consider is who to support to come to power in order to meet my conditions. The substantial benefits it would bring to my family business.
In this hypothetical scenario, the only thing not taken into account is the state and its people. It's all about naked capital manipulation. This is very realistic.
The topic with friends revolves around the newly elected mayor of New York City. Election slogans are always just slogans; ultimately, they must deliver returns to the stakeholders.

That's really mean. Those poor folks lost a lot of manufacturing jobs and were hit especially hard when GM, the last big employer in town, shut down. I don't think Trump's tariffs or trade war has brought any jobs back to Youngstown so I don't know why he went there.

I sure hope Democrats win in Ohio.

We need a proper Congress back and the hyper corrupt Trump admin is the perfect target for a Democrat Congress to not only hold Trump accountable, but also for Congress to begin to claw back power from the Executive and the Supreme Courts.

The current US system has become ass backwards. The legislature was supposed to be the most important branch, where elected officials would debate and decide the most important questions. Now the decisions are made by corrupt people in the Executive branch or 9 unelected unaccountable black crows on the Court.

No wonder everything is FUBAR. To begin to fix things I will be submitting my early mail ballot tomorrow.

It's co-equal branches of government. Not one branch being more important than the other two.

What you are describing is EXACTLY what the DSA candidates are pushing for. THAT is never going to work.

Does Congress, meaning both houses, need to do it's job. Yes, without a doubt. One of the first things they can do is start by approving judicial nominations where the nominee(s) will interpret the Constitution correctly and not in accordance with a political ideology.

Actually, what the Congress needs to do first is fix themselves before even thinking about fixing the Supreme Court. But truthfully, it's the voters who need to fix the Congress. And the majority of them are too dumb to tie their own shoes much less make good selections for representatives.
