US 2026 Midterm Elections Thread

I shared my wife's anger with a friend via texting and he said his lady (white) is very upset because Wisconsin elected a Black governor: David Crowley.
A strong race-based response is coming; that may show in different ways but the underlying rationale would be the same. Thus I draw the parallels to the 1850s of America in today's America. And it doesn't look good at all unless some healing touch is applied and applied soon.
I fear and worry about this country.

I don't think that America will go that extent of a full blown civil war or race war, just like i don't think US govt will completely fall for things like matrial law, and my reading is and its something i wish to see in Pakistan and other countries as well, is that how US created strong independent institution which keeps checks and balances on the Govt's and leaders. US politics is now like my older ex-coworker used to say, a pendulum, it will swing to right and keep swining to until it hits the farthest it can go and then it will swing back all the way to left -> far left and vice versa.

I can see why your friends wife reacts this way, trust me i so wanting to give me ex-father in law a call who is a die hard far right republican, he must be losing his shit right now, probably trying to pawn out all his AR-15's before the evil communists or jihdist come for his guns and his beat up RAM truck which gives 8 miles per gallon and make sounds like a monster snoring.

Georgia will soon have a black governor as will Florida.

I'm not sure where it says skin color is a qualification for office. It's too bad there are those who use skin color though for political purposes. That in and of itself flies in the face of what Martin Luther King stood for.

I'm not about to pawn out my guns nor am I losing my mind.

I drive a Ford and a Toyota. Both get better mileage. And, the Toyota is the technical of choice for self-respecting jihadists worldwide. If you're going to ride into battle, do it in style.

Hopefully, you are right.
But I have my doubts: I think the vaunted Checks and Balances are less and less over the last few decades. It is petty party politics now. And there is definitely a 'sense of siege' in the White Americans and that's not only in America but also in many other European/White dominated countries.
And unless a some new 'Social Contract' is signed, the swinging of the 'Pendulum', will stop: It will become swinging of Hammer instead.

I mean i don't see my ex-father in law some white knight in shinning armor, as bad as they treated me I still miss those guys, they just don't know anything outside of the bubble they live in, he was a old man working 12 hrs shifts, comes to home to a toxic wife and kids, who wants him dead, had to make his own food, take out dogs for their nature calls, then sleep in the back room, which doesn't even have a proper bed, and yet he was the main bread earner in that house. And its the truth which i often mentioned, he showed me all his guns and even visited the pawn shops where he pawned his guns, his RAM truck was a beat up truck, which makes horrible sound, it has tons of issues and a money sucker. If America goes to shit he will be the last person i would want be around lol

I don't think my ex-Father in law can afford a ford or Toyota, he was just too deep in debts, bad credit score and no peace in life. I have seen him losing his shit several times, and i still remember his cheers when Capital was attacked on Jan 6th. Bro was ready for rapture lead by Trump for as long as i lived there, but I still hope that they are living a decent life :) no hard feelings.

I do agree that the nasty petty politics is something to worry about, the rehtoric is getting dangerous, we saw what happen in El Paso mall, or San Diego mosques or synagous shootings, when the highest office aka white house is outright calling elected official jihadist, gang members, stoking fear, creating divide then one nut job with a gun and some training can do sizeable damage that can ruin several lives, this has to stop at some point of we will see more shooting incidents, and no matter how many good guys with guns you have, there will always be slip ups which will cause innocent lives.

It may sound like a dark prophesy but I will say it here: Between now and January 2029, when Trump will be forced to leave power, I expect very nasty things as a result of collusions between Trump and Netanyahu/Israelis. A major False Flag in America or an Americans somewhere. A major war. The target will be the 2028 elections or the 2032 Mid Terms.

Why do I say such dire things? Because for decades hundreds of billions of $$ have been made in a certain kind of arrangement involving some entities in America and Israel. Israel has a very strong sense of survival and Israel has its best, last chance guy in the White House and the time is running out: If Trump is healthy, a little over 2 years. If Trump croaks today, then I really expect Vance to be harsh on Israel. The Israelis are the best readers of the American political landscape, bar none! The know the risks and the opportunities and their timeline stops after January 2029.

Just heard One Republican words on Fox News. I went to bed in a deep red Texas only to wake up in a blue Texas.

I was personally stunned with Abbott losing the governorship in Texas.

There are things that they can do at the state level that don't require Federal Input; they didn't just win big in Federal level, but also at the state level. As I said in the other post, Fed is not going to come down to the state and help you build houses, and the Fed is not going to come down to the state and create job opportunities, and you don't need the Fed to bring in Foreign Investment, and they can suspend fuel tax and exercise. And they can do that after they had 28 out of 50 governorships.

On the federal level, like tariffs and the war, they can't do much other than having the illusion of being at work, but if the Dems are smart, they would start building back voter trust at state level, and then plan for 28, or they can do what they did after winning 2020 and go after Trump and co. The choice is their to make.
