US Economy - News, Updates and Discussion

Looks like we’re in for another day of downward trading.

Market just opened 14 minutes ago.

Meanwhile, U.S. oil prices dropped below $60 a barrel on Sunday stateside. Futures tied to U.S. West Texas intermediate crude fell more than 3% to $59.74, their lowest since April 2021.

With Oil prices dropping the GCC economies may slow and have a knock on effect on employment for South Asians as well as GCC pledges of trillions to Trump, dashing hopes of FDI saving the US economy.

This looks set to get a lot worse, with second and third order effects creating a doom loop.

No he is killing stock market so that elites are forced to park their wealth back into fed. and that could force US fed governor to lower the interest rate.
you increase rate to try to reign in the public wealth, that's why Russian is currently doing 21% interest rate at the moment, when they desperately needed capital to fight inflation.

Increase interest rate = people have more incentive (higher interest) to deposit and less incentive to borrow.

lower interest rate = people have less incentive to deposit (Low interest) and more incentive to borrow.

Trump apparently, he’s out playing Golf and letting his strategy of double or nothing ride. Famous for his Bankruptcies, he’s rolling out his half baked plan and hoping it lands for him.

Btw, the Nikkei just opened in Japan (it’s 9am Monday there now). It closed Friday at 33780, and its is …

I keep hearing people said "This is a "readjustment" of stock market"...............That's probably the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

"Readjust to what" is the question I asked to everyone of those people. There are no "healthy range" in stock market index, that's called an "Index" because it indicate how the stock market is doing. The number increase mean the stock market is doing good, the number decrease mean the stock market is not doing good, this is those number is for, going down ALWAYS mean unhealthy.

This is like I ask you "you wallet seems overvalued, can you readjust them" dude, nobody is going to do that, I mean sure, when Trump was in the first time around Dow was low 20,000 in Feb 2017, that does not mean that is healthy, I mean if you want to go low, how about going back to 2000 points back in 1980s? But then we aren't paying in 1980 price, as much as I wanted a can of coke back at 50 cents a can, we don't live in 1980 anymore. It's pointless to force us back into whatever period when the wage is low and living standard is low.

Look at the P/E Ratios. These stocks have been overvalued for far too long. It has been a bubble just waiting for something to trigger a “correction”.

again, they are "over-valued" because of something, and I will give you 3 guess as to what make them "over-valued"

It's not my fault my company is doing good AND making money.

People misunderstood what is "healthy grow" and what is a "bubble" the chart is going up, but that's not the important bit, the chart is going up "GRADUALLY" is the important bits. When you have a bubble, it's when something spike at the end of a quick period, when people hedge on them. I mean if my company perform well and making money constantly Y to Y, it's not a strange thing my stock went up...

How are Indian markets futures looking? The current crisis is after the Sensex had a bubble burst already. Oil prices dropping will help but weakness in the GCC markets could have a knock on effect on India on top of Trump’s tariffs. What options does India really have? Genuine questions.

Btw, if it’s really bad US market Circuit breakers are set at 7,13, and 20%. God Forbid the circuit breakers are triggered.

Stock markets are crashing around the globe thanks to Trump.

Oil price will likely average at 55 USD per barrel.
