US Perspective on the Iran - Israel / US War

Hezbollah is upping its drone game against the IDF:

IDF weren't anticipating FPV drones and Fiber optic drones being used against them. They have taken key territory but have suffered losses all the same.

Honestly America needs to distance themselves from this mindless campaign by the Israelis posthaste.

#BREAKING| U.S. Central Command: - We conducted defensive strikes on radars and command and control sites for drones in Gurma and Qeshm in Iran- Our strikes were carried out on Saturday and Sunday in response to Iran shooting down a U.S. drone over international waters

Ah this will be in retaliation of downing the MQ-9 earlier.

It will definitely throw a damper on whatever negotiations Iran and the US are currently involved in.

Any bet the MQ-9 was chum to get the Iranians to react?
Yes 100%. What better way to goad your enemy I to revealing key locations and a pretext for a strike.

What's the loss of one drone to the US? Meaningless in the grand scheme of things, those radar sites however...

honestly shocked israel didnt think about this , i though they had figured out solutions for them already
nothing but ego and hubris imo , they really thought hezb was finished
and yeah its a blood bath , hezb even succesfully targeted a commanders barracks in an idf camp inside israel ( one fatality +5 injured i think)

Arrogance and underestimating your enemy can be a major folly for generals and military commanders.

The battle of Agincourt and the use of the British longbows (which the French underestimated) is a good reminder for military planners.

Never underestimate your opponent.

According to some, the loss of the radar sites is irrelevant. Yet, replacing those systems is not an overnight process.

Agreed.

I recently watched a documentary regarding the Spartans. Sparta's enemies finally figured out ways to defeat them.

Agreed and it's not just the loss of hardware, potential loss of qualified and experienced operators and given the current delicate supply chain all suggest otherwise.

I love reading about classical Greek history and the many battles. In the end the spartans for all their might were their own worst enemies.

While we're drifting a bit (which I will allow), for someone who was actually well-versed in history, this was an area where Hitler greatly lacked. Not only did he follow the same exact invasion route to Moscow that Napoleon did, he had the same optimism regarding the defeat of the Soviets.

Had he better studied the Spartans, he would have known "Lebensborn" was likely doomed to failure and that his enemies would find ways to defeat him.

The same is applying in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah is also studying what is working / not working in Ukraine and applying accordingly.

Did you track this bit of news?

It's got the support of at least one Republican senator.
