From late 1943 until the end of the war, the USN and RN controlled the Atlantic. Yet, German U-boats continued to sink merchant vessels until the end of the war.Because of Iranian terror attacks and threats to commercial shipping. The US can’t escort every single commercial ship out of the Strait. Doesn’t change the fact it’s the US who ultimately controls who enters and leaves the Strait. That’s control in the end.
