Iranian terror attacks from ground based drones and missiles and speedboats made it too risky for shipping and insurance companies. The USN still managed to escort nearly half the barrels per day that were passing through the Strait prewar which kept prices subdued. Then Iran got blockaded for two months and the US became the world’s largest oil exporter. Irans Strait gambit was a huge failure.

ADM Cooper already stated that 70% figure was inaccurate. That 70% figure includes Irans cruise missile stock btw. Irans ballistic missile stocks were reduced by half and missile production facilities largely destroyed in 5 weeks of combat.

All military objectives were met

However most of the oil that was flowing and was being sold was Iranian and not other countries …

One welcome change in the agreement/MOU is a complete non-reference to internal affairs of Iran - no boilerplate 'democracy', 'freedom' stuff. I don't know if it is new U.S. foreign policy or Trump administration policy, but it is a good thing that we stopped haranguing other countries on 'democracy' and 'freedom'. I think we learned lessons from Iraq/Afghanistan/Libya that these 'values' can't be evangelized in far off lands with very different cultures.

To be fair without ground troops in the equation (and even then its not guaranteed), relying on an air campaign vs a country the size of Iran with a very inhospitable terrain and an international choke point a stone throw away, was always a fools errand.

Sounds more conspiracy theory to me.

The real conspiracy is Iran not going nuclear when the US declared it as part of an Axis of Evil but instead it concentrated on expanding its Tentacles of Terror in the region.

Iran has been bombed left, right and centre like Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya, and their brainwashed fanatics are claiming Iran has won because it has survived US bombing onslaught... It's like beating a dead horse.

Brainwashed Afghans are proud of the label of "Graveyard of Empires" being associated with them despite nations from afar have invaded, conquered and destroyed them, while they themselves have not been able to invade, conquer any of their invaders.

Hezbollah will be disarmed one way or the other , I am wondering what way it will be ...btw , America is pulling out of the middle east , he is asking Pakistan Saudi Arabia , Turkey and Egypt to take over the security of the region...I am glad Iran is shown her place in the peking order.

- US economy booming, gas prices dropping towards $3, stocks flying, strong employment etc


The US is graded on the anti curve relative to Iran. The US cratered Irans economy, military, and industrial base in 5 weeks, with almost no cost to itself. The US has total and absolute hegemony.

Off top of my head

Regime change - failure

Destroying Irans missile and drone capability- still not known but US intelligence saying drones capability back up in months

Securing HEU - failure

Stopping Iran from supporting axis of resistance- failure

Letting Gulf allies get walloped and losing so many air defence radars - failure

This operation a complete failure

Irans economy pre-war was already cooked, so if hitting 600 schools and hospitals and carrying out other warcrimes makes you feel better i can't help that.

Iran controlled 90% of SOH, il give trump the 10% he was bragging about, his been so desperate to open the strait.

Brent dropping to 80 is because of the deal, had war carried on or SOH stayed shut over june/July its not the Brent price people would be worrying about It's the strategic petroleum reserves.

US and Israel failed miserably, this has had a big economic effect on Iran but everything else they can recover. If sanctions are lifted and assets unfrozen Iran will rebuild very quickly.
