MOU released with two more months of negotiations. Remember the MOU is NOT a final deal.

Bottom line, Iran has to cease nuclear enrichment and HEU handed over and destroyed or they get NOTHING. That seems to be lost among many here.

The US unsanctioned Iranian Oil sales and agreed to unfreeze iranian assets before a nuclear deal is signed. Iran had agreed to nuclear activities until the final deal is signed(Something Iran wasn't doing after the 12 day war anyways). This deal is giving Iran a bunch of concessions with the only real concession from Iran being opening the strait of hormuz which was open before the war.

I consider this thread one of the most biased, even though we have other threads with pretty wild comments competing with this one.

Trump signed the Memorandum of Understanding with Iran yesterday.

Through this document, Iran offers the following:

A promise not to manufacture nuclear weapons, which was never an Iranian objective.
The reopening of a strait that was already open before the war.

Trump offers:

Ending the wars in the Middle East, including Lebanon (where Israel is fighting Hezbollah).
Unblocking all Iranian assets frozen in the US (estimated value of several tens of billions of dollars).
Lifting all sanctions against Iran, allowing Iran to sell oil freely and at market price (annual revenues estimated at nearly $100 billion).
Providing, in conjunction with Arab nations, a $300 billion fund for the reconstruction of everything the US and Israel destroyed during the war.

And there's more. One important detail: because of point 1, Iran, in addition to everything else, has also managed to turn the US against Israel, since Netanyahu has already said he will not leave Lebanon, but because Trump needs this signed document, he will strongly pressure Israel to withdraw from southern Lebanon.

In exchange for a promise and the reopening of a strait that was already open before the war, Iran leaves with tens of billions in unfrozen assets, unrestricted oil sales, the lifting of all sanctions, and $300 billion to rebuild.

Therefore, I ask again: who really won this war?

Iran was selling oil up until the naval blockade in April. That’s a nothingburger. My understanding is Iran gets no frozen assets, sanctions relief, or access to $300B until US demands are met in a final nuclear deal.

If those demands are met, all US core objectives will have been met in this war:

- Destruction of Irans nuclear program
- Destruction of their missile, drone, naval, and military industrial base
- Destruction of their Navy
- Significant degradation of Irans proxies and Iranian power projection capabilities

Relatively, the US is far stronger today than Iran when compared to the pre June 2025 geopolitical space.

Also, any sanctions relief will require Congress approval and delisting Iran from the FTO list. This seems highly unlikely at this point.

This being the conflict from the US perspective thread, it should come as no surprise it would be as biased and hyper-nationalistic from some posters much as it is in the big thread. Fortunately, between the two extremes is a balanced view.
