US Perspective on the Iran - Israel / US War

First of all, you do know that before the war, the oil price was $55 a barrel this year ALP? Right?

View attachment 204971

I wouldn't consider it a win when it is $13 higher. Yes, it's not $30, but still, that's not 0. It's like saying, " Hey, I stepped in dog shit, but it's only a third of my shoes, so it's alright..."

Even if we are talking about immediately just before the war. That's $63 a barrel (Which would have been higher because of the anticipation of war), that is a year away from now to get back to that level.

And not to mention, if Iran wanted, they could close the strait again, and hike up the price.

So honestly, what's your point?
People blindly look at oil price and ignore the strategic petroleum reserves. China not buying oil and using its own reserves help to keep the prices under $150, market had priced in ceasefire and resumption if diplomacy so prices started falling despite very low reserves. Had trump not pushed for the MOU price would have gone north of $150.

Let the good times roll , I want the markets to crash and buy in the dip ...sold all my stocks yesterday.
And I was refiguring my estimated fuel costs for an upcoming trip. May as well scrap it and plan for it to go back up.

Am praying I don't get stranded somewhere between Davey Crockett-land and Deliverance.

It's a scenic route , you can do camping there to save on fuel😉

I didn't think US would hit back this quickly.

I'm so sick of this that I'm at a point where either go all the way (Epic Furry 2 Electric Boogaloo) and don't stop until nothing is left of IRGC and their equipment or get the hell out and let Israel deal with it like 12 day war.

U.S. Forces Complete New Round of Retaliatory Strikes Against Iran

TAMPA, Fla. — U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces completed a new round of offensive strikes against Iran, July 7, hitting over 80 targets with precision munitions as an immediate response to Iran's latest attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. forces struck Iranian air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar sites, anti-ship missile capabilities, and more than 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps small boats in and near the strait to degrade Iran’s ability to continue attacking international commerce flowing through the international trade corridor.

Iran recently attacked three commercial vessels transiting the strait including Marshall Islands-flagged M/T Al Rekayyat, Saudi Arabia-flagged M/T Wedyan, and Liberian-flagged M/T Cyprus Prosperity. The unwarranted aggression by Iranian forces is a clear and dangerous violation of the ceasefire and undermines freedom of navigation.

CENTCOM forces remain postured and prepared to hold Iran accountable when the agreement is not adhered to or obeyed.

I don't think oil was ever going to top 150, a lot of things have to happen to have that, and just demand alone won't make it go over that (Talking about crude price, not refining price)

The thing with China is that they had stocked up on crude since 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine, to the point that they can just roll up for 3 or 4 years without Iranian oil, and they will be okay.

On the other hand, the short-term oil price has dropped, but the long-term price is still high; it's going to take a year or so to normalise

No. I don't own one.

I have ways of dealing with most 2-legged problems.
We had an interesting 4-legged problem just before 5 a.m. today around our home. Two coyotes were chasing a deer around and it was galloping like a rocket. Fortunately, the coyotes were not successful; otherwise we would have a dead deer to take care of first thing in the morning.

I've been through there plenty of times. I'm on heightened alert from about 50 miles west of Tulsa until I see St. Louis in the rear view mirror.
I haven't been that way since the large rest stop changed hands.

Always have to be on alert driving I-44.

Two things everyone will notice:

Not a guard rail from OKC to Tulsa hasn't been run into yet, and

Nearly all the billboards along the way advertise trial injury lawyers.

On good days, I can drive a delivery van 120mph.
