TAMPA, Fla. — U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) completed another round of strikes against Iran at 9 p.m. ET, July 20.
U.S. forces struck Iranian military command centers, maritime capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and air defense systems to degrade Iran's ability to continue attacking commercial vessels flowing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Commercial vessel transits through the vital international maritime corridor continue. Since early May, CENTCOM forces have helped facilitate the transit of approximately 900 commercial vessels and 450 million barrels of crude oil.

American forces remain postured and prepared to hold Iran accountable for unwarranted aggression toward civilian mariners seeking to freely and openly transit the strait.

Out of curiosity is American naval forces attacking civilians tankers from all around the world as well…unless I’m mistaken they did kill 3 Indian citizens and didn’t even apologize for their death

Iranians are truly natural-born comedy material.

When the U.S. eases the pressure, they immediately become arrogant and wild: Iran has advanced technology, Iran is invincible, destroy the Gulf states, control the strait, develop nuclear weapons, develop intercontinental missiles.

When the U.S. intensifies its attacks, they immediately start complaining: a small belly up against a great power, Pakistan should join the war, the Gulf states are all traitors, Russia and China are cowards.

The whole world has to revolve around Iran.

That's what can happen when a society spends decades under the influence of a rigid theocratic system that promotes a single ideological worldview. After 47 years, generations can grow up knowing little else, with dissent discouraged and state narratives reinforced through education, media, and political institutions.

When religious ideology becomes fused with state power for decades, it can narrow public debate, entrench hostility towards perceived enemies, and make confrontation seem normal rather than exceptional. The longer that cycle continues, the harder it becomes to break.

In my view, this is one of the greatest dangers of prolonged rule by religious fanatics: an entire society risks becoming conditioned to see perpetual conflict, sacrifice, and confrontation as unavoidable parts of national identity, instead of peace, prosperity, and cooperation.

I’m a bit perplexed at Trumps current approach. He wants the Strait free from Iranian attacks, but he’s unwilling to use ground forces. He wants to coerce Iranian leadership, but he’s unwilling to target them. The current tit for tat approach would likely take months if not a year+ of sustained strikes to alter the Hormuz situation.

Iran doesn’t target Israel because they know Israel won’t hesitate to kill any Iranian leader it targets.

Trumps indecisiveness and obsession with deals has lead us to this. If you want the Strait open, commit the necessary forces. We’re not even using bombers at this point.
