I think this no war no peace situation may well become permanent, with maybe the occasional armed flare up.. Essentially a return to pre war status quo but with Strait of Hormuz now a mini battleground.

If America really chooses to tighten the screw it can stop Iranian exports and imports en masse, maybe even pressure Turkiye and Pakistan to close land border.

Obviously Iran os a big country and can feed itself, but its economic and scientific progress will be blunted massively. America and the rest of the world will move and and of course develop alternatives to Hormuz

The short war favoured Iran and put it in a good position, but longer term, Western economic and military strength will prevail. Iran should take a deal now.

Yeah I think America wants to turn Iran into a big Cuba completely cut off from the rest of the world.

NK is similar but at least NK shares a border with China and US can not police that border but Iran can connect to Russia via the Caspian sea but right now Russia is busy with their own problems

Not taking into account the age of the tanker fleet currently out there, don't need that many tankers to support an offensive air arm of that size. Something is in the works.

guys, is the US position that the Strait of Hormoz is an international waterway (per Rubio) or it is territory which belongs to the US (per Trump)?

If Iran gives them the chance to turn it into a US territory, then I guess it will eventually become a US territory.

So, Iran mustn't give them that chance.

However, too much Iranian investment was put into Octopus Soleimani's Terror Tentacles, which gave the US the opportunity to bring its armada to the Strait.
