The flaw in the current US approach is thinking this conflict will be restricted to economic sanctions only going forward and in ignoring Iran proactively escalating militarily.

It’s been 6 months, if Iran had the capability to escalate they would have done so by now. They have no answer to US air or naval power. The US can mow the lawn whenever it wants and Irans only response will be a handful of missile launches a day.

You have no argument to make. Iran can’t counter US air or naval power. It can’t stop the flow of oil through the Omani corridor. It’s under full naval blockade. We’re a month into the second blockade and we’re already seeing multiple Iranian officials begging for economic relief.

If Iran is not already a failed state, it’s well on that trajectory.

At least a year ago, they were subject to IAEA inspections. Today, not only is it impossible for a single official from that agency to enter—even for a vacation—but also:

1.- Iran has improved the precision of its missiles to the point where they can destroy any type of short-range (Iron Dome), medium-range (Patriot), or long-range (THAAD) air defense system.

2.- It has not only rebuilt the entrances to the missile cities destroyed during the 12-Day War but is also constructing new missile cities.

3.- It has developed anti-access air defense capabilities to such an extent that US sources acknowledge the existence of drone swarms capable of detecting and potentially destroying fighter jets attempting to penetrate those protected zones.

A handful of missiles regardless confirms Iran's willingness to continue fighting. I get it that you don't understand the concept that as long as Iran has the will to fight, they will continue to fight.

Its over when iran draws their last card. That is sending thousands of drones and missiles straight into the oil infrastructure and desalination plants of the middle east. Once all the oil infrastructure is destroyed and no more oil can be pumped, strait of hormuz would be useless.

-Irans nuclear industry has been largely destroyed and HEU permanently buried. Any nuclear facility reconstitution can be hit at any point we choose.

- 90%+ of Iranian drone and missiles were intercepted. What did get through had little impact on US operations. Iran is unable to counter US air power or logistical flow into the region.

- The US suppressed Iranian missile sites to the point where Iran was firing <10/teens missiles per day. Only way those sites could be eliminated l is through ground operations or nuclear attack. You can’t suppress them further through air power alone.

- Iran destroyed one F-15 fighter, and damaged an F-35 that made it back to base. In other words, the US holds near total air superiority over Iran whenever it chooses.
