I don't see any back tracking - Iran continues to make its demands while it throttles the straits and the world of fuel.

Demands that will never be met by the US.

Rather than it being the USA planning to attack, are all the cancelled plans of Trump & Co down to potentially Iran taking the initiative and doing something new?? (we can speculate but must be significant enough to warrant the noise we have seen? )

Any scenario is possible.

OT but ukraine striking russian energy supplies/infrastructure is not going to go well with Putin, and will increase the likeliness of Putin going mad and launching his big toys at entire europe which itself can trigger shit in europe ...

I doubt it very much. Europe is far more technologically advanced than Russia, and it also has nukes.

Russia is "bogged down" in Ukraine and if history repeats itself, it's not going to end well for the Russians once the war ends.

During this war so far, they've already lost Syria and now they're looking at losing Iran too.

The US struck more than 13,000 targets during the 39-day war, and you're suggesting that the loss or damage of one aircraft somehow rendered the entire US fighter fleet useless?

By that logic, every military in history becomes “useless” the moment it loses a single aircraft.

One aircraft being lost or damaged is an attrition statistic. It isn't the destruction of an entire fleet.

Here the price of reg. gas has been steady so far since last week.

In my area, regular gasoline is running from $4.23-4.97. Costco, not surprisingly, is $4.49.

For those who run #2 diesel, the price ranges from $6.24-6.89. Costco is at $6.35.

Am glad I am not in the market for a new pickup truck. My favorite Ford dealer has a great sale going on F-250s and 350s. All run on diesel.

Why would the US start a war with its third-largest trading partner, or, for that matter, why would China start one with its largest individual-country trading partner?

Both countries have enormous economic interests at stake.

Was looking for Ford F150's when i was researching for Campers, still am interested to have it work eventually for road trips, but F150's are expensive.

Yes, they do. The last thing the world wants is a conflict between the US and China.

People who understand the dynamics of the global supply chain understand this.

I deal with people who have said, with straight faces, the US needs to boycott Chinese products.

My response? "Good luck. Let me know how that works out for you."

This could be a whole discussion in and of itself in a separate thread. I'm not even sure the US Economy thread would be appropriate given there are many economic-related topics that get posted there.

The bottom line, as it sits right now, a lot of very conservative people are not happy at the moment. They could care less if pundits are reporting the President had no choice but to initiate the current conflict. What they see, right now, is affecting their daily lives. And, winter is coming.
